WE REMEMBER June 16,1944 *George Junius Stinney Jr. was the youngest person to be sentenced to death in the 20th century in the United States.* He was only 14 years old when he was executed in an electric chair.* During his trial, even on the day of his execution, he always carried a bible in his hands, claiming to be innocent. He was accused of killing two white girls, 11-Year-old Betty, and Mary of 7, the bodies were found near the house where the teenager resided with his parents. At that time, all members of the jury were white. The trial lasted only 2 hours, and the sentence was dictated 10 minutes later. The Boy's parents were threatened, and prevented from being present in the courtroom, and subsequently expelled from that city. Before the execution, George spent 81 days in prison without being able to see his parents. He was held in solitary, 80 miles from his city. He was alone without the presence of his parents or a lawyer. He was electrocuted with 5,380 volts in his head, imagine all that voltage in a teenager's head. *70 years later, his innocence was finally proven by a judge in South Carolina. In 2015 Joaquín Guzmán known globally as El Chapo performed a feat of engineering that stunned the Mexican government. While held in the Altiplano maximum security prison he vanished from his cell in the middle of the night. The exit point was a small opening in the floor of his private shower stall which was the only area of the cell not visible to security cameras. Below the shower was a tunnel over one mile long that led to an abandoned construction site. This was not a crude hole in the ground. It was a sophisticated passage complete with lighting and a ventilation system using PVC pipes. To move the earth quickly and later transport the prisoner the engineers installed a modified motorcycle on a rail system. This custom bike allowed the escape team to ferry tools in and Guzmán out in a matter of minutes. The operation cost an estimated fifty million dollars and required a massive team of workers to dig and remove tons of soil without being noticed by prison guards. Guzmán remained free for six months before he was eventually recaptured in a military raid.

NEW: Prison guard sentenced to 25 years in prison for beating an inmate to death in New York. Former Mid-State Correctional Facility guard Jonah Levi was one of the guards who beat inmate Messiah Nantwi to death. Nantwi was hit 69 times with batons, feet, and fists. Levi was accused of stomping on the 22-year-old's head, who later died at the hospital. "I think the real you was shown to me in the body-worn camera," Judge Michael Nolan said during sentencing. "You were fist-bumping other officers, laughing and joking while Mr. Nantwi lay on the floor, dying in the infirmary because of the things you and those other officers did." All the other guards pleaded guilty in plea deals. Levi was hit with the maximum sentence of 25 years in state prison with five years of post-release supervision. He will be 65 years old when he is released from prison.

He was one of Kenya’s leading socialist voices and, in the spirit of internationalism, developed a brotherly relationship with the revolutionary activist Malcom X. In this clip, Dick Gregory, a Black writer, activist and social critic, explains their close bond that was first formed during Malcolm X's 1959 visit to Kenya. Pio Gama Pinto, a Kenyan revolutionary of Asian origin, was deeply involved in Kenya’s struggle for independence. Both he and X were fighting similar fights against oppression but on different sides of the Atlantic. Together, they planned a joint strategy to combat injustices. Notably, Pinto advocated taking the US to the UN for its treatment of Black people. Both voices posed a danger to the status quo and were tragically killed within three days of each other. Pinto’s killing, on 24 February 1965, was Kenya’s first political assassination. An accomplished journalist and propagandist, Pinto used his skills to publicise the cause of African freedom through political pamphlets and press articles. When the colonial government declared a state of emergency in 1952 and detained most African leaders, he was involved in funnelling weapons to Mau Mau resistance fighters. Pinto had to die because he was perhaps the perfect African socialist in a Kenya whose independence was hijacked by capitalist elites. He was virtually at war with those accused of land-grabbing - including Kenya’s first President Jomo Kenyatta and his ‘Kiambu mafia’ (a group of the elite from Kenya's Central province) - and with Western capitalism led by the US and British governments. Pinto was shot as he drove out of his Westlands home in Nairobi. Though departed, his legacy lives on in the millions of Africans keeping up the fight for a fully liberated and dignified Africa. Charlie Ely, Kyle Hooper and Amber Wright being told they are being charged with murder for their involvement in the death of Seath Jackson in 2011. In 2011, Seath Jackson, a 15-year-old boy, was tragically killed in a brutal ambush. He was lured to a house by his ex-girlfriend, where he was viciously attacked and shot multiple times. This led to acute panic within the Dutch deep state-government of Mark Rutte. Rutte succeeded in getting Kat extradited from Northern Ireland and took personal care that he was subjected to a prison regime tailor made for extreme terrorists. This he did after he also filed a criminal complaint against Kat in which no specific crime was mentioned -the only purpose of his complaint was to put pressure on the prosecutors and prison authorities to treat Kat in the harshest way possible. This went even to the point where he was placed two times in an extreme surveillance unit from a prison where someone was murdered. So the one that filed the criminal complaint was also the one that decided over his prison regime: only a MP can exert this kind of power abuse. To make this whole situation even more outrageous: Kat won a complaint against his regime, but his lawyer refused to hold the prison authorities and the Dutch state responsible -maybe because that case would have led directly to Mark Rutte and the Dutch covid-minister at the time Hugo Hugo de Jonge who was involved in this operation ‘demolish Kat’ next to Rutte. This same lawyer also embezzled the criminal complaints of both politicians so that they could play no role in the proceedings and Kat could not defend himself by proving his prosecution was 100% political. Against this lawyer a disciplinary case is now in the process, whereas Kat himself has launched a case against the Dutch state in which he is in a winning position after two devastating rulings by the supreme court against the state. In this case Kat and his new lawyer will bring the newly adopted SLAPP-law in play that is specifically meant to counter abuse of power by i.a. governments against public participants like journalists. The NY State Attorney General's Office released video showing the moment of death of Eric Duprey on August 23, following an encounter with members of the NYPD on Aqueduct Avenue in the Bronx. News reports explained that he had sold crack cocaine to an undercover officer. The cooler was thrown by Sgt. Erik Duran while Duprey was riding down the far sidewalk, from the grassy area at the top, a little to the left of center. Then Duprey skidded off the sidewalk and crashed into a parked vehicle, causing his death.

Jonathan Lewis was white. His attackers were black. Other than local media, the national media is avoiding this story. Jonathan Lewis was trying to protect another smaller student initially, then 10+ others teamed up to attack Lewis, getting him on the ground and causing multiple injuries that resulted in his dying later. According to the boy's father, the brutal beating happened after 17 year old Jonathan Lewis stood up for one of his "smaller friends." "A couple (of kids) attacked him, and they weren’t able to hurt him enough, and they all attacked him at once," the father, Jonathan Lewis said.
