Anyone sitting out this election over the Israeli/Palestinian war are people who care more about a decades long conflict happening thousands of miles away than they do about the survival of democracy in their own country. Personally, I think the U.S. should massively scale back foreign money to Israel, but I’m not going to help get Trump elected to make that happen. I care more about women in this country having a right to make their own medical decisions and ending systemic racism and fighting for equality here at home.

They are bumbling and clueless and dangerous even if they are well intentioned. They think the Biden and Harris can tell Hamas what to do? The US has no leverage with Hamas. No one does. The US can and does tell Israel what to do as a reaction to what Hamas has done but the issue remains with Hamas. Hamas is calling the shots and won’t negotiate with anyone, which is in itself a negotiating stance. We keep making offers and they just wait us out. Hamas is unhampered by morality or concern for their own people. So the uncommitted will walk the US back into the arms of Trump who won’t even bother reasoning with Hamas and won’t distinguish between Hamas and Palestinian civilians and will bomb both without a thought. And then all hell will break loose.
