On CNN, Ron Brownstein points out that Abdul El-Sayed had a serious problem: "I was in a Black church in Detroit... and the minister excoriated El-Sayed, said he was more concerned about Gaza than about Detroit." Abdul deserves this criticism.

Steve. The Detroit numbers back it up. In the August primary, Detroit voted Haley Stevens 62 percent to El-Sayed 34 percent, per the city's official results. He still won statewide by about a point. In 2024 he backed "uncommitted" against his own party's nominee. Detroit families remember who showed up for Detroit.
