Today is Thank A First Responder Day. Here’s a little throwback to spending the day with Rural Metro Fire in Tucson, Arizona and trying on some of their gear. The Cottonwood Fire saw its first bit of containment put on the map yesterday; and increasing again today. The 93,000 acre fire outside Beaver, Utah, is now 5% contained after firefighters constructed a staggering 169 miles of fireline. Insane amounts of labor to get to this point. If the fireline started in Salt Lake City, it would reach halfway to Las Vegas, Nevada. There are 1,121 firefighters on scene, including 28 crews, 9 helicopters, and 40 engines. Thanks to the subscriber who shared this view of the fire’s activity this weekend.
