First 10 seconds and you already self report you know nothing. He never said he uses it to write for him. Please stop talking about situations you don't even bother to read properly. Even GPT would have a better understanding of what happened here than this video.

I would like to clarify that I understand that he claims the LLM was only used for research, but I have a hard time believing him. Especially after years of defensive posts about Gen AI and data centers. That is obviously just my opinion and I can’t prove anything

Crazy how you just go spread false info as if it's what happened then only "clarify" in your replies when called out on it I don't think you should be taken seriously at all. Sounds like you already had it out for this guy.

@meganroseruiz It really doesn’t sound like that at all. It sounds like genuine creative concern about someone she respected.

@meganroseruiz Genuine concern is intentionally misrepresenting a situation to make it sound worse than it is?

I'd be happy to chat with you about this! I'm a consumer tech reporter, so I'm always going to be using popular tech products and speaking to users about their use cases, writing about the policies these products embrace around speech, etc. I try to be really open abt that!

Yup. To add on to the long list of GenAi exploitative practices and harms, are also studies that show when you outsource your mental capabilities to GenAi, it can heavily impact brain activity and potentially lose cognitive skill. How many brilliant minds might we lose to GenAi?

"HANK NEVER SAID HE USES IT TO WRITE FOR HIM!!!" Riddle me this you stupid fucking commenters: if Hank didn't use the AI to write for him at all, how can he an over-reliance on generated notes? You know, the thing he originally admitted to doing in that now deleted tweet. :)

He didn't use generative AI though. There are many genuine criticisms to make about using AI to search for sources, even if you read those sources yourself and then write based on that knowledge which is what Hank did. Anti-AI research but you didn't read his statement yourself

So I understand that Hank claims that AI was only used for finding articles. I understand that there is no way to prove this, but I don’t believe him when he says that an LLM didn’t write any part of the video script. Especially after years of him defending AI and data centers.

If you use AI to do 'research' then you've already jumped ship on being creative, so the odds of using it for everything else is extremely high. Hank is in full damage control mode now, and now the questions begin as to how often has he used it & for what.

The "I was under pressure" defense is really annoying. Brother you're a bazillionaire compared to most people. You could just never work again another day in your life. SHUT THE FUCK UP!

like Woof in addition to all the gross ethical and environmental issues with ai it’s also just factually wrong so frequently! How do experts in their fields expect us to believe their claims while using ai in their process?? it’s so messy and incorrect!!

I try to maintain a maximalist approach to AI, meaning I try to imagine the proper response to a professional in the 90s printing out an article from wikipedia and claiming it as their own because "they used a computer". The work isn't properly sourced and it isn't their own work

Here's her falsely treating Andy like a data center "debunking" expert, which is hilarious considering how much she's been complaining about how people need to not platform non-experts about issues recently with her other takes.

Here's her retweeting Andy Masley, who might be the most pro-AI art/data center person on the entire platform. TODAY. Lol. Here's two of Andy's articles on AI art. You are absolutely not misunderstanding her recent Substack at all.

he immediately implicates himself by saying he only used it because of output pressure. If we're taking him at his word, then he used it in the same manner that most non-skeptics in academia are using it in. If you were googling resources, you already were "using AI".

It's very telling that in his response to people accusing him of accidentally reading a part of the AI response, he said "I went back and check the script I wrote and the version I read on video, and that sentence isn't in it" and not "None of my script was written by AI"

Infantalized woman that spends her free time collecting labubus needs you to feel bad for saving time while working on your youtube videos

Yeah, if a science or tech educator uses chat gpt for anything you can ignore their opinion on everything. They have proven that they do not care about the truth and all of the harm caused to people and the planet doesn't matter to them.

Imo this is less forming a relationship with AI and more about them defending their relationship with art in the public's eye as they react to ai usage. From that lens I think its a natural reaction, idt he would be reacting the same if he was just using ai for shopping lists.

If your concern is that he “didn’t even bother to write it [himself]” then you shouldn’t have a problem with how he used AI to find papers to read. He did write his stuff himself. So you either didn’t read what he said or you’re lying to yourself about why you are upset

Taylor Lorenz appears addicted to social media and the sound of her voice but she also seems to want to be an influencer in the tech world so she’s being a sycophant defending some of the worst shit. She’s a pick me but no one is picking her.

Yup I’ve ditched and blocked so many YT channels that started using Ai or ChatGPT. Most recently I checked Antscanada and saw all the Ai thumbnails and immediately blocked them.

People are using AI to write their Substacks??? WHY

genuinely it doesn’t matter. nobody cares

On a side note: you're an inspiration, your art is the complete opposite of mine, yet I love it so much. The clown statues were to die for, the spider is the cutest thing, I wish I had better mean$ to buy even a sticker, but I try to at least give ♥️ on every social

what does the "C" stand for ?

Whoops. Obviously a typo lol

Maybe you should use chatgpt for proofreading like hank green does

Its really interesting that all the highlighted quotes in your video read as if they're speaking about an addictive substance. 'Other people use [drug] every day. It helps people with their lives. I wanted to stop but couldn't' and so on

I had to watch like 3 Taylor Lorenz videos to realize that she herself wasn’t AI

“Didn’t even write his videos” is in comically bad faith. Reconsider the way you view other people

"Are we putting out things for the sake of it..." It's his job. Tf you mean?

Because he is a curator. Beyond the fact that it seems like he is arguing that he has written everything, just used it for research, the reality is, many of us are interested in his content. We aren’t interested in exactly how it was made.

LLMs have too many usecases and are only getting better. There's a bunch of ethical (use) issues to figure out. But I dont see how this witch-hunt type behaviour towards any person is constructive.

This video sounds AI generated

If people have to hide what they do because of fear of backlash, maybe the fear is warranted and they should listen to that instead of hiding their activities.

Why is this in my feed? Why is a full on Redditdown because someone used ChatGPT in my feed? I love AI! Whoever the content creator is who happened to use AI for one video, kudos to him!

Hey moron did you even read the blog post?

fucking worthless
