On June 28, 1997, the highly anticipated rematch between Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield for the WBA heavyweight title took place in Las Vegas. Known as “The Bite Fight,” Tyson bit Holyfield’s ear twice in the third round. Referee Mills Lane disqualified Tyson, and Holyfield retained the title.
