On paper, the UK’s emissions reductions look strong compared to other nations. But once we include all the manufacturing we've offshored and the ✈ and 🛳️ we ignore, our total carbon footprint has dropped by just 0.6% a year. Nowhere near enough for the crisis we face.

Great graph for the “we are doing our bit” and “whatabout” crew. The UK does not “lead the world” - it is lagging behind and getting worse (check latest slippage on domestic boilers). Leads the world in Greenwash maybe? 🤔

That's been my point all along. We sit here all greeny smug and blame China for high emissions after we dumped all our dirty manufacturing on them and expected them to rapidly find a sufficient power supply to accommodate our demands. Then we moan about the coal power stations.🤦‍♂️

You do realise that we are a small unimportant country? Please explain what difference to the world climate it would make if we ceased to exist.

UK cumulatively was responsible globally for most carbon emissions until circa 1910 when USA took lead - UK still 8th on just territorial emisions &had emitted 4% of total to date. Hence should reduce more than lower emitters as had more of benefits.
