Mangala Would be Reading the The Examiner An avid reader, Mangala was proud to gather a personal library of over 2500 books in his lifetime. And in 2025, the majority of these books were donated to public libraries and institutions around the country. This year, in keeping with that spirit, the Samaraweera family is supporting upto 100 Free 6-Month subscriptions to The Examiner. They believe Mangala would have been a fan & close-reader of this well-researched weekly journal. Mangala would be Sea-swimming & encouraging others to, & SeaSisters wants to help more women learn how to, for free! SeaSisters, based in Weligama, teaches women and girls how to swim and surf for free, enabling them to claim their right to the ocean, participate in the tourism economy, and advocate for marine conservation and climate resilience.
