@booksaboutMJ MJ & Lisa were together from 1992 to 1999. She kept vigil at his casket at his funeral, sent flowers to his grave. What’s bizarre is how unaccepting the media and public was of their relationship coz they wanted to believe & peddle a different narrative that monsterised MJ.

Just realized that what he says "nobody thought this would last" is not just about the marriage but MTV - since he basically saved them from bankrupcy by making his videos. Always the genius.

Comments here range from tone deaf to downright false. The media presented their marriage as an arrangement or farce - it could not be further from the truth. In truth, they were very much in love which continued for years even after their divorce.

I remember this and the jokes from comedians began, if I remember correctly they were truly attracted to each other. Due to them both becoming famous at a young age. He had a crush on her, they were married. People try to find happiness even if it’s in an odd place & short lived.

I remember they really loved each other and they stayed friends and she always stuck up for him, it would've last if it wasn't for the media. It felt off because nobody had to prove a real marriage on a awards show before, happy they can see each other without cameras again ♥️
