When the aircraft suddenly releases that much weight, the biggest immediate effect is on trim. As the airplane becomes lighter, it needs less lift to maintain level flight, creating a nose-up pitching tendency. You can actually see the aircraft begin to pitch up the moment the drop starts. The 10-15 seconds in between pitches are the most important time of a baseball game. All ballplayers should be looking to win this time. The best way to do that is having a set pre-pitch routine that they execute every pitch. A pre-pitch routine is simply what players do on a consistent basis in-between pitches. Most importantly, it’s how they breathe, focus, visualize, and talk to themselves. This is what helps them take control, keep it simple, and compete with all they’ve got ONE pitch at a time.

The extended landing gear creates significant drag, meaning the pilots need to maintain a higher power setting. That is important because the MD-87's engines can have a relatively long spool-up time when operating at low thrust fighting wildfires. If more power is suddenly needed, waiting for the engines to accelerate can cost valuable seconds. By keeping the engines at a higher power setting while using the landing gear to create additional drag, the aircraft remains closer to its maximum available thrust. This young man on the mound, a senior in high school, started the game and threw one pitch in the game on senior day. The back story is that he was injured by a line drive in March ending his career with a brain bleed. The young man up to bat is a senior and the son of the mom who filmed this. He agreed to not swing at the pitch. They said there wasn't a dry eye in the ballpark. This game is so much greater than that little white ball! In a world of such chaos and hate, I love, love, love this so much.❤️ How can you not be romantic about baseball?

Instagram censors Airbus. I was editing this video of a low visibility Auto-Land in an Airbus A330, although when I selected Captions to highlight the auto-generated calls and the pilot responses, the App automatically censored the “Retard” calls. This is a classic case of AI misunderstanding technical language. On Airbus aircraft, the “retard” call is a completely standard, safety-critical prompt that has been used since the A320’s introduction in 1987. It’s an automated audio call triggered at a specific altitude—20 feet above the runway during a manual landing, or 10 feet during an autoland—to remind pilots to pull the thrust levers back to idle for a smooth touchdown. Anyway, when landing in fog, we engage both autopilots and monitor the aircraft flying an autoland. The minimum forward visibility allowed to land is 75 meters because that’s the minimum we need to be able to taxi onto stand. Big league vs. college bullpens.📝 A common theme in amateur bullpens is a lower standard of what constitutes a "good" pitch. Big leaguers tend to be much more self-critical regarding location, even in velo or pitch design pens. "How hard can I throw it, or can I create this shape while still being reasonably around my spot." You may not have big league stuff, but adjusting the standard for what constitutes a successful pitch is something amateur pitchers do have full control over.

The Engine Start Levers or Fuel Cut off switches (different name, same switches) control the fuel and ignition for the engines. The 787 shares the same switches and very similar logic to the Boeing 737 Max. The switches have been designed in such a way that they require a very deliberate movement in order for them to move from one position to another. They’re also placed in such a position (below the thrust levers) so that it’s very unlikely that they’ll be knocked. But even if they were, the spring force and detent would prevent them from moving unintentionally. When we move the start levers from the “Run” or “Idle” position, to “Cutoff”, an electrical signal is sent to move the fuel valves from open to close. The engine ignitors are also then de-powered. This stops the supply and ignition of fuel and the engine spools down. Pilots are trained from day one to only touch those switches in flight when called for by a non normal checklist, such as an engine fire or failure. When a fuel switch has to be moved to cutoff in flight, we adhere to a very strict procedure… Pilot monitoring will place their hand on the switch of the damaged engine and both visually and audibly confirm with Pilot flying that the correct fuel switch has been selected. Only after both pilots have confirmed that the correct switch has been selected, will pilot monitoring move that switch to the cutoff position. As an additional layer of safety, some aircraft types only allow the switch to be moved to cutoff in flight if the thrust levers are in the closed or idle position. As such a news that got great response is to do with LA. In LA Dodgers game, the one who is going to throw the first pitch is none other than V. Anyone who is a fan of MLB know about the upcoming Dodgers game. Not only baseball fans but BTS ARMY is also excited for this game. The reason, Kpop sensation BTS V will throw the first pitch on 25th Aug at the Dodger Stadium. The first ceremonial pitch has a very special meaning in MLB. As such, it’s very special that BTS V is throwing such a pitch. ARMY are you ready? V will throw the first ceremonial pitch at Dodgers stadium. Not only that, various ticket platforms were in trouble due to huge traffic. We are also waiting eagerly.

🚨WEIRD PLAY ALERT🚨 Another catcher's interference in the Red Sox at Philadelphia Phillies game. This is different than last night and we have seen this before. This is BOTH catcher's interference and a balk for impeding Marsh's freedom of choice to hit a pitch, and for the catcher stepping across home plate before the pitch. Since the pitcher is throwing a pitch (on the rubber), this is BOTH CI and a balk. This is NOT an RBI, so MLB and Philadelphia will fix that, but the two runners moved up on the balk, and Marsh goes to first on catcher's interference (and this is an E2). Currently there is an RBI credited to Marsh which needs removed, and there is no balk credited to the Boston pitcher Fitts, so that needs added. We have seen this play several times, both in the SEC Tournament and in a Marlins game a year ago, and that post is here:
