In previous waves of unrest, millions of Iranians have taken to the streets across dozens of cities, making them some of the largest anti-government demonstrations since the 1979 revolution. At the same time, security forces including the IRGC and Basij militias remain deployed across major cities, attempting to maintain control. Despite the unrest, intelligence assessments still indicate the regime’s core power structures remain intact for now. But if protests continue to expand — particularly in major cities like Tehran — the pressure on the regime could intensify rapidly.

Saeed Pourali, a deputy governor in the Lorestan province, said the guard member "was martyred … at the hands of rioters during protests in this city in defense of public order," according to Iranian Student News Network.
