"On the Moody's downgrade, who cares? Qatar doesn't. Saudi doesn't. UAE doesn't." - Scott Bessent What a bizarre comment from the Treasury Secretary of the United States of America. A credit downgrade doesn’t matter? To the issuer of Treasuries?

That response is ludicrous. He, of all people in the administration, understands the importance of the credit rating. He’s morphing more and more into a cult member with that type response and overall dismissive attitude.

This make no sense, last four years we have record borrow, no down grade, this year, borrowing is reduced over 90%, down graded. Almost feel the move was political!

Not when the one issuing the “downgrade” is so obviously politically motivated.

Might want to ask why Moody decided that the looming $37T is staggering.......but the $36.3T wasn't 5 months ago. 🍿

If the credit rating downgrades don't matter, then why is APR on our debt rising, and we need an extra $200B+ just to service it this year?

It means they will buy our treasuries anyway. They don’t care, and that was the whole point of the Middle East trip.

They’ll buy it with higher yields due to a lower credit rating
