Australia is shedding economic muscle mass. We are trading a best economic player oversees to appease the green activists. Energy and resources drive Australia’s competitive advantage. It is the reason we have a higher standards of living and can pay higher wages. But we are destroying our economic advantage. Australia is no longer in shape to win in the economic arena any more. We are shedding economic muscle mass. America, China, India and the Middle East are charging ahead, unleashing their oil and gas and mining resources, unburdened by green activism. Under Labor, Australia are heading onto the economic field with self inflicted injuries as our regulatory overburden, approval hurdles, green lawfare and investment deterrence continue unabated. Part of my chat with Matthew Camenzuli on how the vandalism of investment in our energy resources flows into our cost of living.

Today, it was an absolute pleasure and honour to host the Delta State Economic & Investment Summit, themed “Harnessing Our Strengths, Unlocking Our Potentials,” at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, with the Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, serving as the keynote speaker. This marked the crystallisation of a journey that began in July and August last year with foreign investment missions to Brazil and China. At the Summit, I noted that our goal is to partner with prospective investors, with the overriding objective of building a modern economy that is strongly diversified and adaptable to the physical, social and technological changes of the 21st century.

We are working actively with our partners to find a diplomatic solution in support of our food exports. Dozens of other countries depend on them. I am grateful to every partner who is helping right now, and Egypt, India, Türkiye, and Arab states are already involved. Everyone sees how important our exports are and understands that it is together with Ukraine that the issue of food security can be resolved and a cost-of-living crisis can be prevented in countries where social stability means security both for those countries and for Europe.
