On the way back from the Moon in December 1972, Apollo 17 command module pilot Ron Evans executed a 1-hour, 7-minute long EVA to retrieve film canisters from a bay located on the Service Module. This is increased speed 16mm film footage of the EVA.

Only three of these trans-Earth cislunar EVAs were performed, and Evans was the last person to do it.

Evans wore Gene Cernan’s red striped CDR helmet during the EVA because it had a gold plated visor for reducing glare.

I love the way that casually tossed cover at 0:27 just goes spinning off glinting in the infinite black. (No need to be careful about debris like in LEO!)

Loving all the Apollo media lately!

There’s always something interesting in there.

Why were they stowed in the SM?

That’s where the cameras were.

Like a baby and it's umbilical cord

Love these videos 🧑🚀🚀🇺🇸
