I am glad BBC made this documentary titled “Surviving Biafra” on the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War. So, kudos to my brother, the award winning Nigerian filmmaker, Meji Alabi. It is difficult for me to watch as I see my people slaughtered like dogs simply for seeking freedom and the preservation of their lives. Pogrom was committed against my people following the unfortunate first military coup of January 15, 1966 that was termed an “Igbo coup” even when the authorities and anyone who cared for the truth and followed events in the country at the time knew it was not an Igbo coup. Our Igbo people and anyone who looked like them were hunted down, killed, beheaded, maimed, babies violently cut from their mother’s womb and killed across northern Nigeria for simply being Igbo. I look forward to more documentaries on this war imposed on my people because of the discovery of crude oil in the then Eastern region. While not a complete account of the war, and while I would have wanted to see more from the people who were slaughtered in the millions and subjected to genocide, yet it is worth watching by all who seeks truth and justice, to understand Nigeria then and now. I am gratified that perhaps the powers in London are beginning to realize that this injustice cannot go on and be hidden forever. The Biafrans were not defeated by the Nigerian Forces. Biafrans were defeated by the British government, the British Military and the Blockade orchestrated and imposed on the Biafran people by the government of General Yakubu Gowon. I have long urged Nigeria’s government to begin the process of healing the incalculable disaster perpetuated against the Igbos of Nigeria and other Easterners. Other Easterners suffered during the war as much as the Igbos because it was difficult to tell who was Igbo from the Efik or Ibibio for example. I urge everyone to watch this documentary.

Sunset in Biafra, written by Sir Elechi Amadi, is one of the few firsthand accounts by someone from a minority group. Sadly, the experiences of the minorities who were forced into the war are always discarded when stories are being told.

We, the people of the United States of Biafra, express our sincere appreciation to the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp) for this recognition and for honoring the memory of the Heroes and Heroines of Biafra. During the official visit of the United States of Biafra Mission to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Norway MFA) in 2024, we raised concerns regarding the continued annexation of Biafran territory and the long history of atrocities committed against our people, including mass killings/genocide, torture, sexual violence, and other crimes against humanity. Based on the legal principle ex iniuria ius non oritur; that legal rights cannot arise from unlawful acts, we maintain that the international community should encourage a peaceful, democratic, and lawful resolution that respects the will of the Biafran people. This conviction inspired the Biafran Self-Referendum of 2024, which culminated in the Lahti Declaration of November 29, 2024, when millions of Biafrans affirmed their desire for the restoration of Biafra's independence and the recovery of their interrupted sovereignty. Adamu Bukalchuwa said/confessed on live TV that he encroached on his wife’s freedom, when she was President of the Appeal Court, to seek favor for his senator friends. The Nigerian Judiciary is a sham, corrupt institution that keeps destroying the idea of Democracy in Nigeria. Justice is not for the common man in Nigeria, it is either by CONNECTION, BUNDLES OF MONEY OR, REPUTATION. Same with the Police, Customs e.t.c. This justifies what Dele Farotimi wrote in his book. We need to accept that nigeria is no longer a country of people, but a country of “who eats who first”. A country where the Truth is seen as a threat to the lives of corrupt politicians.

Among the compliant partners of these lobbyists are the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), who seek the secession of Nigeria’s oil-rich Southeastern region from the rest of the country, and who according to published filings, have already made an offer to the CIA to give the agency “free reign” over this territory. But if the stories of Libya, Iraq and Afghanistan should have taught the world anything, it is that the United States sows only chaos and death wherever it goes. Nigerians would do well to learn this lesson, set their petty, externally-manufactured differences aside and find true strength, at last, in unity.

Last year I was determined to make a contribution to America's 250th Anniversary. This documentary, The Thread of Liberty: Keeping Our Republic, is what came of that desire. I've posted it here in its entirety, as well as at We have an incredible nation, the first ever rights-based government in the history of the world in which the people are sovereign. We should appreciate it and, more importantly, love it. But loving requires understanding and then restoring. There is a great deal to celebrate and there is also a great deal of work that lies before us if we're to restore the republic. One of the central questions for the future of the American Republic is do we still feel an obligation to our experiment in free government? I believe one of the places that we renew the obligation, and begin the restoration, is with a rebirth of instinctive patriotism. I sincerely hope this documentary plays a role in that rebirth. I was asked by USA Today to respond to remarks made by Hasan Piker about Zionism. Piker claimed as follows: “Zionism is the ethnoreligious supremacist ideology that is exterminationist in principle, born out of the wrong assessment that this was a land without people for a people without land. It required the extermination of the indigenous population, and that's precisely what has happened since its inception. And its final iteration of that has been the Gaza genocide that we watched unfold.” You can call a blowtorch an avocado as many times as you want, but it still doesn’t have a seed, and it still isn’t green because it’s still just a blowtorch. The claim that Zionism is an exterminationist ideology is just as nonsensical as calling a blowtorch an avocado. The suggestion that Jews want to exterminate the Arabs who also live on the land is likewise, as it has always been, ludicrous and false. Zionism is a simple idea, which is that Jews have the same rights — not more rights, but also not fewer rights — than every other people on Earth have to sovereignty in their national homeland. So just as you might think that Bulgarians have the right to sovereignty in their homeland, Japanese people, Korean people, German people all have the right to sovereignty in their homeland, Zionism is just the idea that Jews should be treated the same. I was asked by USA Today to respond to remarks made by Hasan Piker about Zionism. Piker claimed as follows: “Zionism is the ethnoreligious supremacist ideology that is exterminationist in principle, born out of the wrong assessment that this was a land without people for a people without land. It required the extermination of the indigenous population, and that's precisely what has happened since its inception. And its final iteration of that has been the Gaza genocide that we watched unfold.” You can call a blowtorch an avocado as many times as you want, but it still doesn’t have a seed, and it still isn’t green because it’s still just a blowtorch. The claim that Zionism is an exterminationist ideology is just as nonsensical as calling a blowtorch an avocado. The suggestion that Jews want to exterminate the Arabs who also live on the land is likewise, as it has always been, ludicrous and false. Zionism is a simple idea, which is that Jews have the same rights — not more rights, but also not fewer rights — than every other people on Earth have to sovereignty in their national homeland. So just as you might think that Bulgarians have the right to sovereignty in their homeland, Japanese people, Korean people, German people all have the right to sovereignty in their homeland, Zionism is just the idea that Jews should be treated the same.
