On this day, May 31, 2026, BBC published a documentary video featuring a few survivors of the Nigeria-Biafra civil war recounting their experiences. Among the three men are a Biafran soldier and two Nigerian soldiers. It remains true that the Nigerian government's insistence on going to war against Biafra... for declaring its sovereignty was an evil that protected the British interests on the natural minerals (mainly the newly discovered oil in Igbo land) under the delusion of national unity, even if that meant THE EXTERMINATION OF THE IGBO PEOPLE, just to maintain a State that neither then nor now meets the definition of a nation but a country. No one, with an understanding of the deep cultural and ideological differences across the 250 ethncities would have conceived of almagamation – a forced marriage, as proper and feasible for the people. Considering its composition, to fix the problem of Nigeria, we must honestly, and with moral courage consider regional governance, or a peaceful separation of the country. The documentary was produced by Meji Alabi who is famous for his edgy videos, and in this video wanted to explore more of Nigeria's traumatic past beyond his grandfather's war stories.show more

I am glad BBC made this documentary titled “Surviving Biafra” on the Nigeria-Biafra Civil War. So, kudos to my brother, the award winning Nigerian filmmaker, Meji Alabi. It is difficult for me to watch as I see my people slaughtered like dogs simply for seeking freedom and the preservation of their lives. Pogrom was committed against my people following the unfortunate first military coup of January 15, 1966 that was termed an “Igbo coup” even when the authorities and anyone who cared for the truth and followed events in the country at the time knew it was not an Igbo coup. Our Igbo people and anyone who looked like them were hunted down, killed, beheaded, maimed, babies violently cut from their mother’s womb and killed across northern Nigeria for simply being Igbo. I look forward to more documentaries on this war imposed on my people because of the discovery of crude oil in the then Eastern region. While not a complete account of the war, and while I would have wanted to see more from the people who were slaughtered in the millions and subjected to genocide, yet it is worth watching by all who seeks truth and justice, to understand Nigeria then and now. I am gratified that perhaps the powers in London are beginning to realize that this injustice cannot go on and be hidden forever. The Biafrans were not defeated by the Nigerian Forces. Biafrans were defeated by the British government, the British Military and the Blockade orchestrated and imposed on the Biafran people by the government of General Yakubu Gowon. I have long urged Nigeria’s government to begin the process of healing the incalculable disaster perpetuated against the Igbos of Nigeria and other Easterners. Other Easterners suffered during the war as much as the Igbos because it was difficult to tell who was Igbo from the Efik or Ibibio for example. I urge everyone to watch this documentary.

The Nigerian officials/regime not only facilitates killings but also recruits Boko Haram militants. In reality, there is no difference between Boko Haram, ISWAP, and the Nigerian military. This is one of the many reasons why the people of Biafra insist that the world must recognize Biafra’s independence and hold Nigeria accountable for its illegal occupation of Biafran territory. In addition to the attached evidence, we have included further documentation to substantiate these claims. The United States of Biafra Mission has also been formally communicating these concerns to authorities worldwide. The only real solution is balkanization and decolonization. We, the people of the United States of Biafra, express our sincere appreciation to the Legislative Assembly of the State of São Paulo (Alesp) for this recognition and for honoring the memory of the Heroes and Heroines of Biafra. During the official visit of the United States of Biafra Mission to the Norwegian Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Norway MFA) in 2024, we raised concerns regarding the continued annexation of Biafran territory and the long history of atrocities committed against our people, including mass killings/genocide, torture, sexual violence, and other crimes against humanity. Based on the legal principle ex iniuria ius non oritur; that legal rights cannot arise from unlawful acts, we maintain that the international community should encourage a peaceful, democratic, and lawful resolution that respects the will of the Biafran people. Adamu Bukalchuwa said/confessed on live TV that he encroached on his wife’s freedom, when she was President of the Appeal Court, to seek favor for his senator friends. The Nigerian Judiciary is a sham, corrupt institution that keeps destroying the idea of Democracy in Nigeria. Justice is not for the common man in Nigeria, it is either by CONNECTION, BUNDLES OF MONEY OR, REPUTATION. Same with the Police, Customs e.t.c. This justifies what Dele Farotimi wrote in his book. We need to accept that nigeria is no longer a country of people, but a country of “who eats who first”. A country where the Truth is seen as a threat to the lives of corrupt politicians.

Last year I was determined to make a contribution to America's 250th Anniversary. This documentary, The Thread of Liberty: Keeping Our Republic, is what came of that desire. I've posted it here in its entirety, as well as at We have an incredible nation, the first ever rights-based government in the history of the world in which the people are sovereign. We should appreciate it and, more importantly, love it. But loving requires understanding and then restoring. There is a great deal to celebrate and there is also a great deal of work that lies before us if we're to restore the republic. One of the central questions for the future of the American Republic is do we still feel an obligation to our experiment in free government? I believe one of the places that we renew the obligation, and begin the restoration, is with a rebirth of instinctive patriotism. I sincerely hope this documentary plays a role in that rebirth. Keep America Free.
