Pulling on this thread some more. Eli McGowan's career is in film making in all sorts of roles. He has made a number of short films as the director, including participating in the 48-hour film festival. His wife Emily has worked alongside him, writing many of the films. One that stood out to me as I looked through his filmography was "The Patriarch." Directed by Eli, written by Emily. This film depicts a Patriarchal Christian father that rules over his wife and daughter with an iron fist. He leads them through family worship, he berates them and belittles them. The film takes an even darker turn when the wife overhears the daughter being raped by her father in the other room and attempts to get into the room but is stopped by a locked door. You read that correctly, the father rapes his daughter as a part of his "patriarchal" rule. This pushes the mom and daughter to their breaking point in which they attempt to run away while the father pursues them with a gun, until the father is shot by the daughter but not killed. Cut to a scene where the police ask the mom and daughter how they feel about the father being acquitted. Cut again to the father calmly loading an AR-15 in his living room. And that's the end of the movie. No redemption, no justice, just a "patriarchal" father on the loose, ready to take revenge for the women daring to run away. Let's contextualize all this a bit more. Emily as we've already established is a homeschooler-turned-feminist who relishes in calling out men she deems "misogynists." Eli claims, in multiple places publicly, to be patriarchal. Film is a way to express yourself, to communicate a message to an audience in a creative way. As the writer and director you are the primary communicators of that message. What kind of message are you sending to the world with this film? The Patriarch paints Christian father rule in the home in possibly the worst light imaginable. With no justice served in the end, what is the viewer left with? Nihilism and a distorted view of Biblical Patriarchy. Is this the kind of message Christian filmmakers and writers should be communicating to the world? That patriarchy in its excesses will lead to rape, incest and murder, with no repercussions? This is establishing a pattern of disturbing behavior from both Eli and Emily. From defending a convicted sex offender, promoting fictional p0rn, and producing nihilistic films that portray conservative Christian men as demonic rapist murderers. It's no wonder Eli has spent his time hunting down Christian men online who he deems have crossed the arbitrary line of being "too right wing." Are these really people you trust to perpetrate this moral crusade? These are the stalwart "Christians" that are held up as members in good standing in the PCA? Why are the anons the only ones asking these questions? Where are the Christian leaders? Why did Reformed leaders partner with these people? Watch the clips I've provide from the film, and watch the whole film for yourself (it's only 5 min) and you decide if this is something normal conservative Christians would produce?

#JanaNayagan is a literal remake that could've been far better and not the deserving Farewell for the Tamil Cinema's Box Office Samrat! Thalapathy Vijay, who is now the CM of Tamil Nadu, was one of the biggest commercial stars Tamil cinema has ever witnessed after Superstar Rajinikanth, and the kind of farewell film he deserved should have hit much harder. Despite being around a 60% remake of Bhagavanth Kesari, the team has added political and sci-fi elements to differentiate both films. The political portions were decent, but the sci-fi elements in the final act felt completely out of place. The film constantly feels like it is changing its identity—from a father-daughter emotional drama to a political film and finally into a sci-fi action film. CM Vijay as Thalapathy Vetri Kondan, also known as "TVK," shines throughout and carries this mediocre film from H. Vinoth almost entirely on his shoulders. It was so good to see him back in action, especially during the interval and post-interval fight sequences. Thalapathy Kacheri was an absolute blast and a perfect celebration for his last dance on the big screen. Mamitha Baiju shines alongside Vijay as his daughter and delivers a memorable performance, especially in the climax. Pooja Hegde, Prakash Raj, Narain, and others didn't have much scope and felt like typical template characters. Bobby Deol, as the main antagonist, also suffers from the same issue. Musically, Anirudh delivered some banger songs, but the background score felt repetitive, especially with the reuse of themes like "Raavana Mavada" and "Oru Pere Varalaaru” but still elevates TVK’s screen presence whenever he gives entry. If this film was handled by someone like Lokesh or Atlee, who truly understand Vijay's legacy and stardom, it could've been the perfect farewell for the CM that he deserved. Criticism aside, this is the last time we are going to see our favourite entertainer VIJAY on the big screen. So let's celebrate him for one last time in cinemas. ❤️

Marc Andreessen went on Chris Williamson's podcast and broke down exactly how Elon Musk runs multiple companies at once No other CEO on Earth does this: 1. Every week, Musk shows up at each of his companies, identifies the single biggest problem that company is having that week, and fixes it. Then he does that for 52 weeks in a row. At the end of the year, each company has solved its 52 biggest problems. Meanwhile, most large companies are still having the planning meeting for the pre-planning meeting for the board presentation with the compliance review and the legal review attached. 2. This is not a new operating method. It is actually how the great industrialists of the late 1800s and early 1900s ran their companies. Henry Ford, Andrew Carnegie, Thomas Watson, who built IBM. Total devotion from the leader to fully and deeply understand what the company does, be in the trenches, talk directly to the people doing the work, and be the lead problem solver in the organization. Andreessen says he is not aware of another current CEO who operates this way. 3. The framework Musk uses is the bottleneck. When I set out to make this film I wanted to tell a different kind of story, while also showing everyone what I envision for my work and the voice I wanna have as a filmmaker and artist. Akira Kurosawa on his experience watching 'Solaris' (1972) & drinking vodka with Andrei Tarkovsky in Moscow: "I met Tarkovsky for the first time when I attended my welcome luncheon at the Mosfilm during my first visit to Soviet Russia. He was small, thin, looked a little frail, and at the same time exceptionally intelligent, and unusually shrewd and sensitive. I thought he somehow resembled Toru Takemitsu, but I don’t know why. Then he excused himself saying, “I still have work to do,” and disappeared, and after a while I heard such a big explosion as to make all the glass windows of the dining hall tremble hard. Seeing me taken aback, the boss of the Mosfilm said with a meaningful smile: “You know another world war does not break out. Tarkovsky just launched a rocket. This work with Tarkovsky, however, has proved a Great War for me.” That was the way I knew Tarkovsky was shooting 'Solaris' (1972). After the luncheon party, I visited his set for Solaris. There it was. I saw a burnt down rocket was there at the corner of the space station set. I am sorry I forgot to ask him as to how he had shot the launching of the rocket on the set. The set of the satellite base was beautifully made at a huge cost, for it was all made up of thick duralumin. It glittered in its cold metallic silver light, and I found light rays of red, or blue or green delicately winking or waving from electric light bulbs buried in the gagues on the equipment lined up in there. And above on the ceiling of the corridor ran two duralumin rails from which hanged a small wheel of a camera which could move around freely inside the satellite base. Tarkovsky guided me around the set, explaining to me as cheerfully as a young boy who is given a golden opportunity to show someone his favorite toybox. Bondarchuk, who came with me, asked him about the cost of the set, and left his eyes wide open when Tarkovsky answered it. The cost was so huge: about six hundred million yen as to make Bondarchuk, who directed that grand spectacle of a movie “War and Peace,” agape in wonder. Now I came to fully realize why the boss of the Mosfilm said it was “a Great War for me.” But it takes a huge talent and effort to spend such a huge cost. Thinking “This is a tremendous task” I closely gazed at his back when he was leading me around the set in enthusiasm. Concerning Solaris, I find many people complaining that it is too long, but I do not think so. They especially find too lengthy the description of nature in the introductory scenes, but these layers of memory of farewell to this earthly nature submerge themselves deep below the bottom of the story after the main character has been sent in a rocket into the satellite station base in the universe, and they almost torture the soul of the viewer like a kind of irresistible nostalghia toward mother earth nature, which resembles homesickness. Without the presence of beautiful nature sequences on earth as a long introduction, you could not make the audience directly conceive the sense of having-no-way-out harboured by the people “jailed” inside the satellite base. I saw this film late at night in a preview room in Moscow for the first time, and soon I felt my heart aching in agony with a longing to returning to the earth as quickly as possible. Marvellous progress in science we have been enjoying, but where will it lead humanity after all? Sheer fearful emotion this film succeeds in conjuring up in our soul. Without it, a science fiction movie would be nothing more than a petty fancy. These thoughts came and went while I was gazing at the screen. Tarkovsky was together with me then. He was at the corner of the studio. When the film was over, he stood up, looking at me as if he felt timid. I said to him, “Very good. It makes me feel real fear.” Tarkovsky smiled shyly, but happily. And we toasted vodka at the restaurant in the Film Institute. Tarkovsky, who didn’t drink usually, drank a lot of vodka, and went so far as to turn off the speaker from which music had floated into the restaurant, and began to sing the theme of samurai from Seven Samurai at the top of his voice. As if to rival him, I joined in. For I was at that moment very happy to find myself living on Earth. Solaris makes a viewer feel this, and even this single fact shows us that Solaris is no ordinary SF film. It truly somehow provokes pure horror in our soul. And it is under the total grip of the deep insights of Tarkovsky. There must be many, many things still unknown to humanity in this world: the abyss of the cosmos which a man had to look into, strange visitors in the satellite base, time running in reverse, from death to life, strangely moving sense of levitation, his home which is in the mind of the main character in the satellite station is wet and soaked with water. It seems to me to be sweat and tears that in his heartbreaking agony he squeezed out of his whole being. And what makes us shudder is the shot of the location of Akasakamitsuke, Tokyo, Japan. By a skillful use of mirrors, he turned flows of head lights and tail lamps of cars, multiplied and amplified, into a vintage image of the future city. Every shot of Solaris bears witness to the almost dazzling talents inherent in Tarkovsky. Many people grumble that Tarkovsky’s films are difficult, but I don’t think so. His films just show how extraordinarily sensitive Tarkovsky is. He made a film titled 'Mirror' (1975) after Solaris. Mirror deals with his cherished memories in his childhood, and many people say again it is disturbingly difficult. Yes, at a glance, it seems to have no rational development in its storytelling. But we have to remember: it is impossible that in our soul our childhood memories should arrange themselves in a static, logical sequence. A strange train of fragments of early memory images shattered and broken can bring about the poetry in our infancy. Once you are convinced of its truthfulness, you may find Mirror the easiest film to understand. But Tarkovsky remains silent, without saying things like that at all. His very attitude makes me believe that he has wonderful potentials in his future. There can be no bright future for those who are ready to explain everything about their own film." For a generation of boys who had grown up watching aircraft pass overhead and dreaming of flight, it was everything. The chance to fly, to serve, to be part of the greatest fight of their lives. At the end came the invitation. Stop by the box office on your way out for complete information. One famous recruiting film of the era led more than 150,000 young men to sign up to fly. German fighters slashing through their formations. Anti-aircraft shells, called flak, bursting all around them, filling the sky with jagged steel. One airman described it as being trapped in a game of Russian roulette. You were going to be hit, he said. It was only a question of where, and when. The fighter pilots faced their own trials, dueling enemy aces, nursing shot-up aircraft home over the sea, taking off again and again knowing the odds caught up with almost everyone eventually. Eddie Howe, Andy Howe, Jamie Reuben and Steve Nickson have cemented their reputations. In particular Eddie’s handling of the whole Isak affair has been a masterclass in diplomacy, hard work, and man management - we truly have an absolute gem and a gentleman leading the team. 8. In summary we have a club that is united from top to bottom, in a healthy financial position, a much stronger squad with players committed to the club, new top class senior personnel to be added very shortly, a second Champions League season to look forward to and hopefully more silverware. Thought for today…. I would like to thank Alexander Isak for his behaviour and forcing to leave Newcastle. I would also like to thank Liverpool for the duplicitous way they unsettled him. 🔥🔥I listened to all of this from start to finish. What you see coming out of that guest on the show is the anger that is seething within many Nigerians at this moment. He touched on so much but the bottom line is Petroleum and the president doubling as the minister for petroleum. This new dimension in recent times started with Buhari, then Tinubu followed - Presidents doubling as Petroleum Ministers. But why? Petroleum is Nigeria’s biggest income earner and the economy revolves around it. Under the secret pact for the continuation of colonization which all colonized African countries are signatories to, your natural resources belong to your colonizer. And your colonizer has the Right of First Refusal on all existing and new resources discovered in that colony, like Nigeria. What that means is, British companies for instance will be the ones to control oil drilling and extraction from Nigeria. They will have the best of oil wells and assign the biggest and second biggest and probably even third biggest oil drilling contracts to British companies and then the rest to whoever else they wish to assign them to and eventually leave the crumbs for the host colony. Same British companies will also be the first companies to be contacted or contracted whenever a new resource, like gold is discovered in Nigeria. When they have taken enough of the mining contacts and are fed, the crumbs go to people like my brother, Arthur Eze & other local players. And when they extract the natural resources, say oil, in the case of Nigeria, the money they make goes almost 100% to England and if you’re lucky as a host colony, you’ll get 4% or max 5% Royalty from the sale of that natural resource they took from your land. It is on record that only two African countries make up to 5% Royalty from such satanic brigandage of the colonials in present day Africa, and I doubt that Nigeria is one of the two. The rest are forced to make do with between 1-3% royalty! Sierra Leone’s First Lady already told you but I know many didn’t understand. Former Gambian President, Yahya Jammeh told you before they kicked him out on account of his refusal to accept this wickedness, but you also didn’t understand. The distance between first world and third world is nationalization of a nation’s wealth. Kill that agreement today and nationalize Nigeria’s oil wealth and Dubai will loan money from Nigeria. But it won’t happen because the colonials have become increasingly agitated about losing their grip on the natural resources of their African colonies, so what they started doing is imposing their own stooges and placing them in charge of the principal resources they steal from that country. So, while Buhari serves as a Petroleum minister in Nigeria, another African country’s president that probably has, say Gold as the dominant resource is his country, is also made to be the minister in charge of gold mining and export and so on. This is their new tactics and they won’t stop without a fight. Francis Ford Coppola’s new film “Megalopolis” cost $120m and he self-financed it (including money from selling his winery). Coppola is a legend of “going all in” and “putting skin in the game”. The GOAT example is “Apocalypse Now”, his classic 1979 war film with arguably the most insane production story ever. Let’s rewind to 1975, the year Copolla turned 36: he is on top of Hollywood after directing “The Godfather” (1972) and “The Godfather II” (1974). What does Coppola choose to do next? Make a film about the Vietnam War. The script was based on Joseph Conrad’s “Heart of Darkness”, the 1889 novel about the horrors of colonialism in the Belgian Congo. The major studios all said “no” to Coppola’s pitch for three major reasons: 1️⃣ He wanted full creative control 2️⃣ He wanted to own all of the film rights 3️⃣ The Fall of Saigon happened in April 1975 and the American audience wasn’t exactly asking for a Vietnam War film (the studios wanted Coppola to make another Mafia flick) Coppola was undeterred and made a huge bet. “The Godfather II” cost $14m and the director estimated that “Apocalypse Now” would be the same budget. He put up $7m (mostly from those sweet Godfather checks) and raised another $7m from United Artists (which bought domestic distribution rights for ~7 years). But the project was a disaster from the start. Filming started in The Philippines in March 1976 and was supposed to last 3-4 months…it would take 16 months: ▫️Harvey Keitel was the initial lead but Coppola fired him after one week. ▫️Martin Sheen (Captain Willard) took the lead role but drank so much on set that he gave himself a stress-induced heart attack and almost died. ▫️Dennis Hopper was doing 3g of coke and 20+ drinks a day while on set (him and Marlon Brandon also hated each other). ▫️A typhoon destroyed 80% of the set and delayed filming for 2-3 months. ▫️Actual dead bodies — stolen from a local grave — were used on set and the Filipino government and its strongman leader Ferdinand Marcos threatened to shut down production after finding out. ▫️Marlon Brando (Col. Kurtz) demanded a huge fee ($3m+ for 3 weeks of work and 10% of the film’s gross). He then showed up late, asked for rewrites, declined to read Conrad’s book and was so overweight that the costumes wouldn’t fit (to obscure his heft, Copolla filmed Brando in the shadows and had him wear oversized dark clothing). The budget ballooned to over $30m. To maintain creative control and maintain all the film rights, Coppola mortgaged his home and borrowed money against his ownership in The Godfather. After the success of “Star Wars” (1977), Coppola even asked his friend and business partner George Lucas — who was originally tapped to direct Apocalypse — for some funds. I repeat: Coppola went ALL THE WAY IN and had SKIN IN THE GAME. His wife Eleanor took recorded video of all the insanity and the footage was turned into a 1991 documentary (“Hearts of Darkness: A Filmmaker's Apocalypse”). The total cost for the film — including marketing spend — reached $45m. Against all odds, Coppola finished the project and the film was released in August 1979. It grossed $105m and Coppola would make a fortune on future DVD, Home Video and other ancillary revenue streams (below is a trailer for a re-mastered cut from 2019). During the Cannes Festival in May 1979, Coppola famously said of the film: “The way we made it was very much like the way the Americans were in Vietnam.
