It's a sad state of affairs: what motivation and inspiration are we giving to younger generations to join the Armed Forces? These people don't dare to speak with a constable of the police like this. Men in olive uniforms are being taken for a ride in every domain. If these are ESM pause their ECHS card for some time till the time of inquiry is complete, that much our higher-ups do to give a firm msg.

This dad called 911 because his seven year old autistic son wasn’t behaving and was having a tantrum. The officer that spoke with him told the father that it was completely inappropriate to call the police over this. He said they have an entire town to protect and three officers responded and then asks the dad while chuckling - “can’t handle a seven year old?” The dad tells him that he has called 911 twice before but no one has ever got mad at him like this officer. The officer tells him that they are approaching charging him with false summoning a police officer. He also tells him that if he can’t handle a seven year then maybe they should get CYS involved because clearly the dad needs parenting classes. 😳 Many said the officer was rude and didn’t have to be. That his job is to protect and SERVE the community and that the family was just reaching out, that he needed support and someone to to talk to because they have no idea how hard it is to raise an autistic child? But others said this is not a job for a police officer, that they aren’t counselors and therapists and that there are many resources available through the city that he should using. 💯 I am team police officer. Some may find it rude but this is not in their job description. And being the third time? You have to put a stop to the 911 calls. What do you think? Do you think the officer had a right to be upset and talk the way he was talking to the dad being that this is the third time this has happened? Or, do you think he should have had more compassion for the father?

A police officer carries enormous power. The power to stop, search, arrest, detain, investigate and, in some cases, use force. That power must always come with responsibility. It is therefore deeply disturbing that many police officers in Kenya continue to hide their names and service numbers while carrying out their duties. This is not only wrong, it is a direct violation of the law. The National Police Service Act No. 11A of 2011 is clear. Paragraph A10 states: "A Police officer in uniform shall at all times affix a nametag or identifiable Service number in a clearly visible part of the uniform." The law does not say "sometimes." It does not say "when convenient." It says at all times. Why would an officer conceal their identity from the public they are sworn to serve? An honest officer should have no fear of being identified. A professional officer should proudly wear their name and service number. It is the rogue officer, the corrupt officer and the abusive officer who benefits from anonymity. When citizens cannot identify officers, complaints become impossible. Accountability disappears. Justice is obstructed. Public trust is destroyed. The Inspector General knows this problem exists. The National Police Service Commission knows it exists. Human rights organizations have repeatedly raised concerns about it. Yet little meaningful action has been taken. A police uniform should never become a mask behind which misconduct is hidden. The question Kenyans must ask is simple: Are we being policed by accountable public servants, or by individuals who deliberately conceal their identities while exercising state power? No police officer should be above the law. The first duty of law enforcement is to obey the law. Every officer must wear a visible name tag and service number.

#WATCH | Imphal, Manipur: On the arson incident at Kanto Sabal village, Imphal West, Congress MP Angomcha Bimol Akoijam said, “I have seen the video and the people were complaining right in front of them (Security Forces) … I tried to talk to the officers, and they didn't even have the basic etiquette of responding. I saw that kind of attitude and think about what they have done to the people, and even an MP like me, some problem is there with that unit. I think that the Indian army as an organisation can't be blamed, as there will always be rotten elements in an organisation, and I think I am hugely disappointed… My office called the commanding officer; he said he would return the call, but he did not, and they have been saying that the captain is coming. I was waiting for him; he didn't turn up. This is the first time I am encountering something like this… I came to know from the village that this is the sixth time it has happened, and gets rarely reported… At the beginning of the crisis, this commanding officer used to call both the Kuki civil society and Meiteis in and around that place, and they used to have regular conversations to maintain peace... The fact of the matter remains that four houses were burned down right there when they were standing. When their unit is there, though they should be held responsible… The army commander was supposed to respond in public order situations without asking the civil authority… If the armies are deployed all along, how come those people were allowed to escape? I know there are a lot of questions we must ask. And who gave permission for the rally till that problem? In that situation, did they have any intelligence input about possible violence? Did they have enough deployment on the ground? How did that houses were allowed to be burned? It is a shame for such an organisation like the Indian Army … I am collecting information from there and what happened with the videos and other… The leadership quality of the Indian Army is appreciated across the globe, but that character that we know about the Indian Army, I didn't see it yesterday…” (12.07)

He’s filming everyone at the market, but the police say there’s nothing they can do. Whose side are you on? A male videographer (the "auditor"), who is wearing a disguise for anonymity, is filming at an outdoor market. He is confronted by a market organizer (Kaylee Dolan) regarding his filming of vendors and attendees. A law enforcement officer arrives to mediate the dispute. The organizer expresses concern that the videographer is making vendors and patrons uncomfortable and asks him to stop or leave. The videographer asserts his right to film in a public area, refusing to comply with her request. The responding officer confirms that the videographer is in a public space where he has a legal right to record. The officer acknowledges the organizer's frustration but explains that, as no crime is being committed, he cannot compel the man to stop filming or force him to leave. The tension arises from the intersection of constitutional rights and personal expectations of privacy. Under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, individuals generally have a protected right to film in public spaces (such as sidewalks, public parks, and plazas). This includes the right to film government officials and police officers performing their duties, as well as things that are plainly visible from those public areas. In general, there is no "reasonable expectation of privacy" in a public space. If something can be seen by the naked eye from a location where a person is legally permitted to be, it is typically legal to photograph or record it. While filming is a protected activity, it is not absolute. If filming crosses the line into harassment, stalking, or disorderly conduct—or if it is done to "clandestinely" capture private or intimate areas, it can become illegal. In this specific interaction, the officer determined that the videographer’s actions did not meet the legal threshold for a crime, which is why he could not intervene. If the market were held on private property rather than public land, the owners or organizers would have the right to set rules regarding photography or to ask people to leave. If someone refuses to leave private property after being asked, they can be cited for trespassing. The officer's inability to remove the videographer suggests that the location was either public property or that the organizer lacked the legal authority to exclude him from that specific area.
