The Executive Director of Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCAUG), Hajjat Sharifah Buzeki, says the authority has secured 1,980 market spaces outside Kampala as part of government efforts to enforce trade order in the city. Speaking at City Hall, Ms Buzeki said the spaces are meant to accommodate street vendors ahead of the February 19, 2026, deadline to vacate city roads. “We have provided 1,980 spaces outside Kampala to ensure that no vendor is left without an alternative. The time for operating on the streets is coming to an end,” she said. KCCA currently manages 17 public markets within the city and 69 privately owned markets. Ms Buzeki urged vendors to relocate voluntarily before the enforcement begins. “No one should claim there is no space. Markets are available both within and outside the city,” she emphasised. I've held my tongue on Wednesday for as long as I can. The more I look at models the more convinced I get. Wednesday could be a big problem. I'm talking the possibility for a Tornado Outbreak. All the ingredients are there for a potent setup. We'll have: ✅ Upper air support (500mb Jet Streak) ✅ Ample low level Moisture (70 degree dewpoints) ✅ Sufficient Storm Fuel (Cape around 3,000) ✅ Enough wind shear to cause storms to rotate Now the big question is will Storm mode favor discrete supercells or will it favor a line of Storms. If we get discrete storms in this environment, we will likely see a Tornado Outbreak. Our forecast will only get better as we get closer to Wednesday. In the meantime I'll be watching this setup like a Hawk 🦅

There are moments when I genuinely feel for people who step forward to bring change. When Jennifer Musisi attempted to organize the city, many criticized her methods. Yet after she left, some of the same voices began saying, “I wish she was still here, the city would be more organized.” Today, similar efforts are underway and once again, the complaints are just as loud. So the question is: what do we truly want? Some of us had actually given up on going to the city center because of the congestion. Imagine walking while constantly trying not to step on someone’s tomatoes, shoes, Clothings, with every space and pathway completely occupied. Moving through the city had become stressful and chaotic. We cannot demand a clean, organized city while resisting every action taken to achieve it. Structure requires difficult decisions.
