Boxing's become a game like Jiu Jitsu, except unlike grappling where rules constrain styles it's brainworms that convince people boxers are that special. Any boxing gym you go to in the world will have coaches there who tell you "no that's wrong!" when you do anything they personally don't like. In MMA and Kickboxing you have a lot more leeway where coaches will work with you to develop what a boxing coach would try to train out of you. A lot of boxers look the same with minor differences, while MMA fighters can look wildly different. This is where "old" and "new" ways of doing things come from. Boxers are big on trends. Everyone wanted to be Ali in the 70s. They see the way people did things in the 50s and before and assume they don't work anymore. An MMA guy steps into boxing and doesn't care about that precedent so he fights like Marciano used to and batters a world champ
