Once you have data on exactly where your child is in a certain learning journey AI can help you generate perfect materials for them 📚 In this example I use Mentava Reading 🐮 data to print custom stories for my four year old calibrated to his exact knowledge each...

I did this for my 4yo too! My set up is a little simpler, just a markdown note of his Mentava progress that my agent scrapes from the admin site each day (@MentavaInc wen API huh) Then Codex generates the images and story and prints it in booklet format, and I staple it into a little book for him

@MentavaInc They seem open to possibly making a webhook accessible, but also you can get data from the parent dashboard and it’s quite workable!

@MentavaInc Yep that's what I do now! I just have a nightly Codex job that logs in via Chrome and gets the report for me.

@MentavaInc I think it's fantastic. Made me think about one thing. Just thinking on how kids have formative memories of things like the early cat in the hat and stuff like that. If everything is created in the moment maybe there's less memories to look back on. If that makes sense?

@MentavaInc Both! We read a ton of literature as well, no replacement for that!

@MentavaInc I wonder if @MentavaInc uses Letters and Sounds progression, as the first page is beginning Phase 2, and the next pages jump to Phase 3, using the "sh" consonant digraph.

@MentavaInc This matches where my child is at, mentava does use a progression and my child has covered these sounds

@MentavaInc This assumes data capture is always accurate and harmless. What learning is lost when the child expects perfectly calibrated materials instead of struggling through open-ended discovery?

Фото профиля Jesse Genet
Jesse Genet11 дней назад

This is an example, it doesn’t assume anything. Kids need a lot of different modalities but calibration is a net positive for concrete journeys like reading and math. The kids also just crack open real books etc too. I think a kid can do more open ended discovery once they are a strong reader.

If your kiddos love stories and love to create their own stories Here is another option: there are hundreds of free stories created by community storytellers and creators, kids can learn reading, writing and speaking, when little readers inspired can join the creator journey and create their stories too One thing really magic to my kids is: they feel their ideas being seen, being heard, they are so pround to share the stories they made to friends and the whole world

@MentavaInc This looks useful to adapt to foreign-language learning as well. For many languages it can be really difficult to find reading materials for a given level, and this would be good for generating your own graded readers.

@MentavaInc This is how ai is going to take over the world, we’re not even using human wrote books and art now? Like building small books was litterally at thing I did in kindergarten, like holy shit you can do this by litterally just reading to your children proactively every night 😪

I did something like this for my kids as well! Finn is 7 and was running behind on his reading, French immersion in Gr. 1 delays English learning, so this summer, between Gr. 1 and 2, I built the storybook. Then I added prizes and a French section. Math is next, followed by basic physics and then biology, tech, etc. What a time to be alive. The site is free to anyone - feel free to check it out or use for your little guys! A narrative format, 16 chapter storybook with each chapter dedicated to a vowel sound.

@MentavaInc Yeah honestly there's a lot of fun you can have with AI and teaching if you aren't afraid of it. Custom coloring books, even songs.

@MentavaInc Disgusting generic slop for kids, visually disturbing, children should have a right to access actual art and beauty.

Why are you so angry? We spend our afternoons reading D’Aulaires Greek myths and I literally made a website about finding classic children’s literature of which we have an incredible home library. Oh and I run a curriculum showing my kids famous paintings and learning art history and my five year old can spot a Vermeer painting lol. But we are learning how to read and I generate stories for them on the fly with AI pictures… gasp! Perhaps be a positive force on the internet instead of whatever this is.

@MentavaInc That’s great! I really don’t think ai imagery is coming to take over, but for on the fly production of something transitory like an early reader story it has value for us.

This is such a good idea. ⭐️ We homeschool too, and we’re incorporating AI into our son’s curriculum while also carefully teaching him how to use it thoughtfully and responsibly. We want AI to support his learning and curiosity, but not replace his critical thinking and problem-solving skills that he needs to develop himself.

@MentavaInc ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ I love homeschooling! But I also help people start schools (micro, private, public, charter). I’m really interested in how we could train an entire staff to develop materials to personalize all content for young people as a key “instructional” strategy

@MentavaInc Data-driven customization sounds efficient, but does it risk narrowing a child’s exposure to serendipitous learning moments?

This workflow combining Loom’s AI features + a custom ChatGPT GPT is saving me hours. Instead of creating onboarding Docs for new team members, I film a Loom → generate SOP → train a GPT to answer questions Game changer for businesses to delegate faster. Here's how to do it: First, I record a video of whatever task I want to delegate to the new team member with Loom. The more in-depth, the better, but I just used a 7-minute video. Then, I use Loom's new AI 'Write a document' feature. Upgrading to Loom AI from the standard Loom plan cost me $2. Loom AI can generate an entire SOP, PR description, step-by-step guide, QA, and more from a simple Loom video in <5 seconds. In the past, I’ve spent 2 hours+ hand-writing each one of these docs to onboard new team members, so Loom AI is already a massive timesaver. But it gets even better! Next, we can take that data from the SOP document, and we use it as 'Knowledge' to train a Custom GPT that can answer the new team members' questions. The more SOP docs/Knowledge you feed the GPT, the better. But one is fine if that's all you have because the GPT will pull any unknown answers from the web or its training data. Here are the prompt Instructions you want to put into the Custom GPT (copy and paste this): You are an expert CEO, specialized in onboarding and training new team members. Using the Knowledge provided, you will help new team members with any questions or stipulations they may have about their new role. Stick as true to the data provided as possible, but if= they ask any questions that the Knowledge base does not have a specific answer for, you are permitted to use your pre-trained data and/or web browsing capabilities. That's it! It can't replace you entirely, but it'll save you 90% of the time you would've wasted on writing an SOP doc and answering questions. Simple AI workflows here and there really add up. There's also a workflow to help with the job screening process, but I'll save that for another day :^)
