The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has once again demonstrated a troubling lack of leadership and I repeat again that he is one of the most useless governors in Nigeria, at a time when his people need him most. While bandits were killing and kidnapping residents across the state, particularly in Akure north, he was in Lagos attending an owambe. Just last weekend, I ran into his convoy trapped in major traffic after he was returning from at airport commissioning in another state, seemingly detached from the urgent security crisis at home. The “Samuel Doe” of Akure is such a failure!

It was a great honour and a heartwarming moment I do not take for granted. This is a humbling recognition and appreciation of my stewardship over the years, a pointer to what we set to achieve together in the days ahead and the shared vision for the future. Thank you all.

It lies in the southern part of the forested Yoruba Hills and at the intersection of roads from Ondo, Ilesha, Ado-Ekiti, and Owo. Akure is an agricultural trade centre for cassava, corn (maize), bananas, rice, palm oil and kernels, okra, rubber, coffee, and pumpkins. Although cocoa is by far the most important local commercial crop, cotton, teak, and palm produce are also cultivated for export. The town’s industries include electronics manufacturing, soft drink bottling, weaving, and pottery making. Akure is the site of the Federal University of Technology, Akure (founded in 1981), and the Federal College of Agriculture (1957). Ondo, state, western Nigeria.
