Paul Thomas Anderson. PTA has never made a bad film & all of his films are distinct from each other yet equally brilliant. There Will Be Blood, Boogie Nights, The Master & One Battle After Another hold up against any other director’s four best films. And guess what? PTA is only 56, which is nothing in director-years. I think PTA holds the title.

The Holdovers has turned into one of my favorite films of the decade. This movie is all heart. Paul Giamatti’s performance is so honest & even more vulnerable, it’s impossible to not root for this guy. This is one of those movies I universally recommend to family & friends.

Heat is one of my favorite films for a number of reasons & one of those reasons is Waingro’s subplot. I love how Waingro is a thorn in Neil’s side from start to finish in this film. This diner sequence in which De Niro goes off is an all-time De Niro Freak Out. Film’s perfect.

MOST UNDERRATED MOVIE OF SUNNY DEOL. 🔥 After a long time, I rewatched one of my favourite Sunny Deol movies – the film that inspired Ram Gopal Varma to make Shiva. All I can say is, what a class actor Sunny Deol is. Many people only see his 90's movies, but if you want to see him as a truly refined actor, you should watch his 80's films. And I think director Rahul Rawail is one of the most underrated and underappreciated directors in Bollywood. 💯 Can you guess which movie this is?

Edgar Wright on his favourite shot in 'Black Narcissus' (1947): "I think 'Black Narcissus' (1947) is one of the greatest colour movies of all time. There is one particular shot towards the end of the film with Kathleen Byron, which, in my head, that is probably minutes of film, when in reality the shot is only on screen for less than two seconds And it's a shot of Kathleen Byron coming through a doorway, and it's part of an incredible climax, which I won't spoil if you've never seen the film. But it's one of those shots in Cinema that is ingrained on my brain. Like a lot of Powell and Pressburger films, I think it's just [has] a picturesque quality to it which is just somehow difficult to pinpoint exactly what the magic of Powell and Pressburger together is. But I think the thing is sometime these are the films that you keep returning to, is you can't kind of define exactly what it is about the film that keeps you obsessed, you just keep coming back.
