One big differentiator between Waymo and Tesla? The ride model. Waymo requires partnerships and fleet control. Tesla can crowdsource its fleet, allowing owners to “opt in” like Airbnb hosts for autonomous rides. Sam Korus highlights more distinctions in "The Brainstorm."

@skorusARK Waymo will not be able to scale like Tesla

We've already seen this week that Tesla's robotaxi not only competes well against Waymo, but actually drives better (makes smarter decisions and smoother), is more comfortable, and is much better looking inside and out. Taking into account the price to deploy, it's hard to see how Waymo survives.

A lot of people are sleeping on this fact. Imagine a having the inventory of Robotaxi ready vehicles already in use by vehicle owners in a new city that grants authorization for autonomous ride share. It would likely take a year or more for Waymo to start a fleet in that area while Tesla can simply alert the owners in that town and have thousands of car available within days.

@skorusARK Elon Musk talked about the upcoming Tesla Robotaxi. It will be like a combination of Airbnb and Uber. Tesla car owners will be able to make money by adding their car to the fleet.

@skorusARK Waymo has no change against Tesla and everyone knows that

@DMaguireARK @skorusARK Show your model of how much a “landlord” or “carlord” will earn. How it gets cleaned and serviced. How much more they pay in insurance. Where does it get charged while “earning” while the owner is at work. All sounds good on paper until…

That's an exciting vision from ARK Invest! Tesla's crowdsourced robotaxi model could revolutionize mobility, turning every owner into a micro-entrepreneur. With the recent autonomous delivery success, it's clear Tesla is paving the way for a future where our cars work for us--brilliant!

@skorusARK Very impressive, but how do you recharge the battery of an autonomous Model Y without Tesla staff ? Unless I'm mistaken, induction charging was planned for the cybercab but not available on the Model Y. So your « Airbnb like » plan doesn’t work

@skorusARK Once the owners can opt in will they be able to geofence their Teslas range?

@skorusARK During peak hours you’re most likely not going to want to put your car into the fleet. Otherwise how are you going to get anywhere?
