ANNIE talked about JENNIE’s GDA performance Jennie your stage was seriously so, so amazing. I was actually listening to Jennie unnie’s song just now. I turned it on because it felt awkward to be in silence, but then I paused it for a moment because I was worried you wouldn’t be able to hear me… and now I’m wondering how to turn it back on again. And today, one of the songs I really, really love is—what was it again? Filter! It’s one of my favorite songs from that album, so I was really happy that she performed it too.

This is the first time I came across you and you said something that I absolutely love, and I had in my notebook, and I went to find when I took it. It was 2020, and you said, "Books are the closest thing you ever come to finding cheat codes for real life. You can access the entire learnings of someone else's career in a few hours." Tobi: It tracks, doesn't it? David: I dedicate my life to this, so of course, I'm going to agree with that. Tobi: Absolutely. I really think we need to shout this more from the rooftops, right? The one weird trick seems to be just read books.

I was just so happy. It was the first time I ever felt like I was part of a performance while watching one. It felt so real and amazing. Everyone was dancing, just letting go, and that feeling…it was everything. While watching the Timberlake concert, I had this thought: ‘Right, I have to be cool on stage. I have to look cool on stage so that when I perform at a venue like the one in LA, people will feel that it’s cool.’ Yeah. That’s what I thought.”

“Hello everyone, We’re now back at the hotel. This music festival was quite a success. It ended smoothly and perfectly. Honestly, it felt amazing. What exactly did it feel like? I think… before I went on stage, I could already feel my heart racing, it was pounding. I was so nervous. But when I actually stood on that stage, Put my hand on the mic, And looked up… There was a curtain in front of me. As it slowly dropped, The stage lights hit my face, I looked out And saw nothing but people. Completely packed. A sea of people with blue lights, All with my name, Ziyu, on them. In that moment, I felt like my heart skipped a beat. So before I even started singing, I smiled Genuinely. I felt truly happy. In that moment, I felt like I became a different version of myself on that stage. To be honest, I was really scared I’d freeze up. Scared I wouldn’t be able to speak. Scared of messing up. But when I was actually on stage, And finished singing, And said: “Hello everyone, good evening” Haha I was so thankful. Thankful for the beautiful memories you gave me. To receive so much love at my very first large-scale music festival It made me incredibly happy. So my teacher, Yonah, excused me from some of the other classes for an hour or two each week, took me to the school library, and gave me some history books. I would just sit there and read about the Romans and the Chinese and the Mongols and the Inca. It was fascinating. The books I read as a child had a huge impact on who I became as an adult. More recently, when I wrote 'Unstoppable Us', I felt like I was writing it for my younger self. This series has one key message for kids: the world in which we live didn’t have to be the way it is. People made it what it is. And people can change it. Books can transport us to other worlds at all ages, but perhaps even more so in our childhood. Hwa talks about his inspiration for his “Skin” stage. ⭐️: I referred to Harry Potter. In Harry Potter, there is a series where a snake comes out once. There, the snake acts as if it is possessed by a person. He uses it, and he whispers in a strange snake language. I was inspired by that. When I started, I said something like a snake’s spell and used my tongue in the middle of the stage. I think I referred to a lot of things like a snake sticking out its tongue like this. And when I took off my jacket, I tried to make the snake move softer and more elegant.

Nobody ever talked to me about the trauma. Not once did I hear 'are you okay?' It was only -- you have to do this. You have no other choice. You will ruin your life. I was 16. He was 30. Scared. Broke. Alone. I still remember the white gown. How cold the floor was. Waking up on a gurney in pain. The drive home. My sister's bed. Nobody talks about those parts. That's why I'm glad NC now requires counseling and a 72-hour wait, so girls actually hear all of their options. 💔 Ps.
