that’s actually pretty interesting coming from someone who worked on rdr2 if it’s really using some kind of live particle system, that’s a big step up curious how it holds up in actual gameplay tho

About time to level up water simulation

The snow is amazing too. Not just footprints, but also if you roll in it, you see a subtle pattern of the ground underneath. Fighting enemies, you’ll see muddy streaks in the snow where they’re pushed back or slide

They actually confirmed that they used “live particle system”. There’s even a video that explains it

They call it the "Shallow Water Feature"

Wish they improved waterfalls textures tho, they look too 2D XD

@any_austin is gonna love this

It’s also pretty cool that he worked on GTA 6 for a while

Imagine how rivers in gta 6 gonna look like

But can you canoe them in Crimson Desert?

It looks they use a pre-baked shallow water simulation. It’ll become more and more common in games (look at the Fluid Flux plugin for UE5).

What about the other criticisms he had like the overly yellow grass and the flat lighting that happens when the game goes into dusk?

I mean its an PS5 game hardware compare to PS4 but still the water animations in RDR 2 looks pretty well on PS4 but what i love comparing RDR 2 with Horizon Forbidden West is that the clouds are well realistic compare to HFW and Guerrilla needed on PS5 to work on Burning Shorts

So it's like Cities Skyline's water?

what? Isn't it just a flowmap? Am I missing something? They have some amazing effects especially for the water washing on the rocks on the seaside etc, but on that video I only see flowmaps..?

The water looks like sheet of paper, what are you means???

Thanks for the sauce

RDR2 dev never heard about flowmaps ?? Wtf

Crimson Desert and Doke V use Microsoft Azure AI tools

Well it is 8 years later

Gah damn turn up the gamma

source?

The water in my game looks the same on cinematic and low… something is off.

their "live particle water" is nothing groundbreaking, but they did a great job implementing it. id love to cast a line into that river :p

Completely horseshit, respectfully
