One of the greatest songs ever...

One of the least likely faces to match that voice lol I show this video to everyone because it's funny to see their reactions

Disagree strongly. They butchered the song. Older (and better) versions have the song sung by a woman - and it isn't her father who is a gambling man, it is her husband. The animals version - by changing gender - makes the song far less powerful. The Dylan version - on the first album - sings it from the female perspective. But it logically is sung by a woman -

Once you hear it, you don't forget it. It reaches down into the soul and leaves an impression.

Personally I prefer Nina's version. Obviously not as snappy and good for juke boxes.

An equally impressive (some say better) version by Frijid Pink. 🎸

Always reminds me of my Dad as he drank in a pub called " The Rising Sun " and was a Gambler.

Eric Burdon has such a haunting voice . That song was made for him.

The best cover of the Banger this song is!!👇

Eric had the biggest blues voice in the UK at the time.

For a treat find Eric Burden on Youtube singing Serve Somebody (by Bob Dylan)

Just don't ever be a teenager and get caught playing it on your Church's organ.

But a FABULOUS cover by Mumford & Sons with Jon Baptiste and Trombone Shorty in NO Jazzfest

"Don't let me be misunderstood", other great song of The Animals, taken over by Nina Simone 👌👌👌👌✌️✌️✌️🤍🤎💛💚🤎💛💚

first recorded by Clarence "Tom" Ashley and Gwen Foster in 1933

Eric Burdon sings amazing, but don't forget the phenomenal keyboard playing. That really makes the difference, I think.

And one of the greatest vocal performances ever...

Ending be like:

Eric Burton & the Animals 🎹🎸🎶❤️

Back in the early 60s, this song and "Gloria" traded back-and-forth for the #1 song of the year in L.A.

I ❤️ Eric Burdon, what a powerful voice

Agreed. Amazingly, not many remember that Eric Burdon joined War and performed this treasure.

Eric Burden and the Animals

😍😍😍

I looked this song up. They don’t know who wrote it or the first composer was if anybody has any information on who wrote it please post. I’d love to know.

The Rising Sun was a colliery in Wallsend, Newcastle-on-Tyne, where the group The Animals came from. Bet you thought it was a brothel.

It's still the classic songs that make it worth remembering😊

@RatelRatels 🫶💪

@Bfqmh01 The animals house of the rising Sun

And not even remotely the best version of it.

The first song in "The complete guitar players guide" when I started playing 🎸

Immense, culte, je l'écoute en boucle !
