One of the most basic requirements of a functioning society is the provision of secure and affordable housing. Housing is supposedly the biggest priority for the government. And yet it is its biggest failure. The decision to end the eviction ban is indefensible.

They have also failed those of us who worked and saved hard to buy a home to give our family security. Our new home lasted 16 years, now it has to be demolished because of defective concrete blocks. How many suppliers have they closed? Zero. #HousingForAll is a lie.

And the icing on the cake.. Opening the floodgates at the airport. Our government's first priority should be the people of the country. Then the genuine refugees, yes. No documentation, no entry.

Then press pause on taking ppl in. Sort it out & then review. Piling crap on top of crap solves nothing.

I can't take you seriously. You want uncapped immigration yet we're bursting at the seams. 11,000 homeless and a lot of them are working homeless. Not to mention those struggling between paying extortionate rent and feeding themselves. Do you not hear yourself?

Well, when we have free for all open borders, it’s hard to keep up with the demand. Don’t forget Africa alone has a population of 1.4 billion people. If thousands are fleeing from there to here, there’ll be lots more coming. Maybe we should pay more taxes to help accommodate them🤔

It wasn’t ideal that we were the only country in Europe to shutdown our construction industry for months in 2021. Instead of calling for it to resume, opposition parties wanted the stoppage to run even longer. It didn’t make or break the housing crisis but every little helps.

Holly, with respect, while it may seem warm and fuzzy to advocate for keeping the ban- what it actually does is interfere with the functioning of the market, and impact supply in the future, making the problem worse for more prople. The same as rent controls.

The problem is not the ban. The problem is foreign capital buying up irish homes. This has to stop

Are you for real ? Every day you demonise landlords it has a knock on affect. They are leaving the sinking ship of the sector. Goods for FTBs but not for renters. Would you cut taxes for small landlords, because that’s what needs to happen ASAP
