One of these guys crashed while covering the bus accident

We’re all using paper straws to ‘save the planet’ while 4 helicopters are flying to capture the same footage of a bus crash 🤷🏻‍♂️

Was the 4th one shown in the video the black tail White body KNBC-TV 😥

They all appear to be hovering close to, or possibly in, the “DEAD MAN’S ZONE” of the height-velocity diagram. (With zero airspeed, there’s a min. height to autorotate the rotor when the engine fails.) The on-board video from the crashed heli certainly looks like zero airspeed…

Why isn’t it possible to use drone coverage and feed it to all the news channels ?

I didn’t know which one when I posted this. RIP to the crew and thoughts with the families. Do agree with some of the comments here around helicopter noise and use of drones instead. (Possibly)

Yet none of the other choppers have coverage of the drop? More likely they didn’t want to film such a thing…as opposed to when it’s you in the wreck and they would shove a camera through your windshield if the cops allowed.

With the image quality and abilities of drones, why spend a fortune and take the risk of flying helicopters over news event sites.

Over 300,000 noise complaints filed in Los Angeles for these noisy helicopters hovering over homes for up to an hour at times.
