Today is autistic pride day. And there is something special about being able to post a video of me stimming, when even going back a year or two years I could never have done that. My autistic traits are the parts of myself I grew up feeling embarrassed about. I wanted to hide it all away, to blend in and be like everyone else. But no matter how hard I tried, I just wasn’t like everyone else, and trying to be broke me. I don’t think autistic pride means you have to love being autistic. I think autistic pride is about taking back the power from the world and the people that wanted me to hide my autistic self. Learning to love myself as I am, accept myself for who I am, and know that I am autistic and that is okay. It is not good, it is not bad - it just IS. I know I am lucky to be able to discover the authentic me, and feel safe to be myself. I am leaning in to the authentic version of me as fully as I can. Happy #AutisticPrideDay. Looking ahead to the next 24 months, my main focus is passing along whatever I have that could be of benefit to others. At 76, that is the driving force behind everything I am doing. It is exactly why I wrote about the mechanics of debt - so people could study those mechanics. I still love playing my investment game, which I am now doing for my family office, and I am making a platform so that everybody can do that sort of thing. Those are my aspirations professionally. Only crazy people will go to a bank for a bank loan and not write out the SPECIFIC AMOUNT you are trying to get approved for…. Telling the bank teller “I don’t know just hook me up”…. So I’ve learned to not just pray, pray specific prayers because we serve a specific GOD!!!! I am having a very hard time with something that recently happened in a meeting I had…. I am from Gaza, and I never imagined that one day I would reach where I am today. Now I am standing among the mountains of Switzerland, looking around in amazement and trying to understand that this view is real. These are the same mountains I used to see only on my phone screen, and today they are right in front of my eyes. I am standing among them and breathing their air. Here is the moment when I see my hand for the first time. I was pretty shook honestly. I then felt sadness come over me. I felt weird for the rest of the day and found myself avoiding even looking at it. After doing a training session I found the strength and confidence to look at it again and took a photo I will share with you on slide two. It’s going to take sometime to get used to this. But today I feel much better and excited that it is out of the cast. I’m not allowed to do anything with it yet, but I am moving my fingers and that’s big progress. I have to say Dr Donaldson did an incredible job and I am so happy I have a path forward. I just want to be open how that path feels. I am focused on the opportunity I have ahead and I am motivated for this new challenge. But it did hit me how different my hand looks, and even how it looks nothing like it feels. Going to take sometime before I am comfortable with this. However, I know I did not choose the comfortable path. Instead I chose the winning one. Just like sport, to win in your personal race it requires overcoming massive adversity.
