Sad to say that there is no expenditure being made by the State Government of #Odisha for the people of this state and for their development. Time and again this has been brought to the attention of #Odisha Government by Biju Janata Dal that there must be some expenditure for the development of the people of the state, but they seem to be totally neglectful about this. VIDEO: How we used religion to give Tinubu victory – El-Rufai The former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has said that he and some northern governors used religion as a political tool to give victory to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu in the 2023 presidential election. According to the former governor, the decision to use religion as a political strategy was to help tackle the issue of tribalism and religion in politics in the country. The former governor stated this in a viral video. He was speaking to an audience in the Hausa language in Kaduna at an event before handing over to his successor. He said, “Allah sees our heart, me and Zamfara State Governor, Mutawalle did it because of God and we didn’t do it because of anything. We only do it in order to have solutions to the current religious problem we are having in Nigeria and for us to give South West Muslims a sense of belonging to rule. And it is because of religion that we used that gave Asiwaju victory.” He also noted that the Muslim/Muslim ticket that he used to achieve political success in Kaduna has now been replicated in Nigeria with the emergence of Bola Tinubu as president and Kashim Shetima as vice president. He said, “What we are able to achieve in Kaduna state now has been achieved in Nigeria as a whole. There is no liar that will come and say he will do politics as a Christian and win an election. Even Peter Obi didn’t win.” He stated that he alongside other northern governors successfully pushed for the emergence of a Yoruba Muslim from the South West as president despite opposition from some quarters El Rufai speaking in Hausa said in part, “Concerning the Presidential government, what Professor Akintola said is true. We dream of justice, compassion, equality, prosperity and care for all without preference or privilege. "But what we have is an english system of concentrated power and privilege, which those Scots who enjoy it will not give up easily. Where the government sits in authority over the people, and the people surrender their hopes, their ambitions and their human and civil rights to the whims of their elected representatives. Where all that we hold dear, all that we depend on for decency, fairness and security, depends on the honor, honesty and good faith of those elected. "Because once it is elected, we have no means of curbing, challenging or preventing anything a government may choose to do, whether or not that's lawful, just, rational or humane. "Today, we can see the futility of the political route and the bankruptcy of the political system writ large. Our helplessness in the face of the state marching side by side with destitution and despair. "This is why liberation was born. Because the route to the Scotland we dream of neither can nor will come through the present political system, but through the restoration of the political, territorial and judicial rights, the constitutional provisions that belong to the people of this nation, in law and in justice, even under the terms of this fraudulent union, and certainly under international law. "They mean that we, the people, are sovereign, in fact, not in sound bite, the ultimate authority of this nation of Scotland. "They mean that the interests of the people, collectively known as the common good, are not only the primary purpose of government, but the only condition on which it's permitted to exist. "They mean that we are entitled to overrule, remove or replace a government that violates that condition of its existence, that fails to honour its promises, to consult the people or to act according to their wishes and welfare. "And in the modern world, that means the right to all the mechanisms that we see in a nation like Switzerland, which will make that sovereign power a reality. "All this is part of what we call decolonization, true Scottish self determination. And it is the soul and purpose of liberation Scotland. "Impossible? Other nations have trodden the path to decolonisation. Not one has bowed to the kidnapper and asked for permission. "We know now that we can gain our independence as a state by first gaining independence from a colonizing power. So that instead of waiting to reclaim real sovereignty of the people after independence, we gain our independence by first reclaiming our sovereign Scottish rights. "The next step on this road is establishing the committee of the Scottish Liberation Movement. This committee will be elected from the membership of Liberation and will operate under a ratified constitution. "And it will register Scotland's Liberation Movement with the United Nations." Dear Mr President, ASIWAJU BOLA AHMED TINUBU, I'm writing my third letter to you in weeks, on the first day of what might turn out to be a long and torturous protest in the history of Nigeria. This is what I owe you. Be rest assured that I'm a man of modest income who is happy to live within his means and not looking for anything from you, other than good governance. You and I have a chequered history spanning decades and I have never lobbied you for appointments after we returned from exile in 1998, and you were Governor of Lagos State for eight years, and you've been in absolute control in the last 25 years. Sir, it has become pertinent to state this lest the deluge of blackmailers swarming all over you might think I'm one of them. My motive in writing you is absolutely pure. Now to the meat of this epistle... DID WE NOT ALERT THE GOVERNMENT ENOUGH? We were abused for advising the President of our country. Some power drunk leaders even threatened and boasted on television that ABUJA was a no-no for the protesters. But, today, the people marched majestically on the streets of FCT and the Emperors and their acolytes were nowhere to be found... I'm sure you saw what happened nationwide. It is a lesson of history that you and yours must learn. No leader should provoke the suffering people, flagrantly. I coninue to join other peace-loving Nigerians in appealing to the protesters to maintain peace at all costs. But your government should improve its terrible communication strategies. For whatever it's worth, you should have come out to address your fellow citizens. The feeling out there is that you've changed from the pro-democracy leader we used to know. A State of emergency won't solve the problems... The way forward would entail a huge sacrifice: the Federal government should downsize drastically, by sacking most of the deadwoods imported to Abuja from Lagos in the name of political appointments. Ministries should be merged for cheaper and more efficient operations. The outlandish profligacy of governments at all levels must stop. The States must replicate too. LET'S ALL AVERT WHAT MAY BECOME A REVOLUTION. I salute the doggedness of Nigerians. CHIEF DELE MOMODU
