One the BIGGEST problem/Harassment/Loot which patients and their families faces in Hospitals is That they are forced to buy medicines from the in house medical within the Hospital which in majority cases charges very very high prices compared to same medicine in market. There should be Law to ban... this practice and let patients buy medicine from market. I don’t think that’s true. Medicines are sold on MRP. So how can someone add their chargers. Keeping Pharamacy in hospital is a service to patients specially IPD and ICU patients, if you don’t want to take that service then go and find that medicines outside every time no one is stopping you. Sometime without logic and knowing about other field just accusing by such words creating negative impressions about certain professions in people’s mind. So I request you to find truth or delete this

Doctors are also responsible, see this medicine, can't find all over the internet or local or wholesales market, it's only available at hospital pharmacy.

These private hospital operators deliberately force people to buy medicines from their own stores, and that too at the full MRP price. The sad thing is that neither the state nor the central government has made any guidelines regarding this, nor has it made any attempt to crack down.

Many hospitals are commercially run for profiting. Profit is not wrong but bad practices make it problematic

They even sell medicines which you cant find anywhere but in that shop and you have to pay full price.

The medicines are charged as per the mrp. If they are not than the insurance company will not allow the bills to be cleared

They earn 50% commission which costs almost double the amount they earn from services. Even a private practitioner won't prescribe generic medicines you are talking about mafia.

Faced all this in the current year itself. While my mom was in the hospital. Medicines are asked to be purchased in bulk. I almost paid 9 to 15K sometimes in a day for medicines. No one answers you, where are the medicines used, docs don't respond, neither does anyone else.

Cancer medicines ( which is literally free / or of very low price because of waiver of taxes ) are being sold by oncologists from their facilities at a very high price .

In that case, if the medicines bought outside are found to be fake and the patient dies, will the Family members blame themselves or the Hospital ? Rather the government should fix the upper cap of essential drug rates no matter where it's being purchased from.

Central govt is sleeping on case of private schools, hospitals & reservation. Noone cares, untill ur annadata, or person from the state where elections going to happen. Freebies are in, humanity is out, corruption is nationality.

@oldhandhyd Doctors, Hospitals & regulatory authorities earn a good amount of margins from the marketing/manufacturing company whose products are sold in those pharmacies. The pharmacies are left with a very low amount of margins at the end.

Many Doctors and Hospitals recommend Medicines not really available in every shop. Many Medis are also sold only in a Particular Area or Shop closeby. The Racket of Doctor/Clinic Name or Code notings must be eliminated altogether.

Choose the cheaper option of medicines because you don't care for your health. But, don't come back to the hospital or go around saying it's not working. Half of the generic medicines in India have no quality standards. That's why doctors prefer the better manufacturers.
