I remember SGA was mad at the refs that game since he wouldn’t get the calls he normally does in the NBA. The film doesn’t lie: when SGA is reffed by FIBA refs, he is great but the defense can guard him and can STOP him. The NBA has turned into the WWE. Refs don’t let the defense play defense anymore. If the NBA wants TRUE basketball fans to tune into games again, they have to hire FIBA refs or adopt the FIBA rules on what is a foul. 👊 But we know the NBA doesn’t care about true basketball anymore. They want the scores to be 120-130 every game. GARBAGE ✌️

That in that history Russia and Ukraine have always been together, and that Ukraine therefore has never really existed as any kind of autonomous thing. Insofar as it seems to, that's just conspiratorial work of Russia's enemies who have put false ideas in our heads and so on. How I would put it is: the people who seem to be incredibly nihilistic often have some kind of soft spot, and for Putin it's precisely Ukraine. The way he talks about Ukraine is very different from the way he talks about other things. He presents it as a metaphysical truth that Ukraine and Russia have always been together. It's palpable that he actually believes this. Then you get into this basic problem with what I've been trying to analytically call the politics of small numbers. That people end up making strategic decisions on the basis of these wild things that they actually deeply believe in, in some way. And that leads to consequences which they don't expect.

Caicedo has a certain view in refs' minds these days different from his early Chelsea or Brighton days. Why? Repetition. It's also why Rodri rarely gets carded. You build a reputation from repetition and refs (consciously or subconsciously) will follow suit). "MLS cannot be taken down unless you foul him." This notion is what has been in refs' minds for a while now since his first season. Moussa Dembele had somewhat of the same reputation. Gabriel has built this same reputation in how he wins fouls in his defensive area even when it wasn't a foul (vs Spurs is a good example). Now, this doesn't mean there will NEVER be a time when MLS is actually fouled but the ref doesn't blow it or he gets the ball taken from him (will rarely happen due to his strength and use of his arms), but the vast majority of times, it'll be to our benefit. You can't ask players to be adventurous and risky then complain when they are. Besides, shielding the ball is an INNATE part of MLS' game, it's not something he can (or should) change. He just needs to scan better to know where to position his body always, that's the only improvement he needs.

You may hate Museveni but he has always been a tactical genius. The way he methodically explains military strategy and maneuvering, I can't imagine Bobi Wine explaining things like this. Muhoozi has large shoes to fill! I had to watch this 3 times to appreciate his brilliance. He is a once in a lifetime leader. You will miss him when he's gone.
