One thing we Nigerians need to stop doing is assuming that because something is tolerated, ignored or handled casually in Nigeria, the same thing is accepted in the UK, US or Canada. Especially when it comes to sex and children. There are people who travel abroad and suddenly realize... that the laws and social boundaries around children are extremely serious. “She looks mature.” “She agreed to meet me.” “We were just talking.” None of that changes the fact that a child is a child. And this is where some of the nonsense we normalize back home can become a serious problem abroad. We need to stop confusing what people get away with in Nigeria with what is actually legal or acceptable in Western countries. If you are moving abroad, learn the laws. Learn the culture. Learn the boundaries. And please, leave children alone. There is absolutely no excuse for an adult pursuing a child sexually. Now this idiot would do 25yrs in jail and be deported back home.show more

A hugely significant day in UK politics no matter where you are. The political landscape has been changing for quite some time and today map was redrawn. But people are united on one thing; change! Where does Northern Ireland fit into all of this? It's clearer than ever to me that while people are talking about Reform the party, we need Reform of Stormont. We don't know what the future holds, but one thing is certain, we need to guard against all eventualities and the last thing we want is to be without a devolved government. We need a robust system that can't collapse. We need to know that whoever is in Govt in Westminster, that we are in charge of our future. No one else can solve or care about our problems apart from us. Reform of Stormont has now just become an absolute essential. We must be able to govern ourselves no matter who is in No 10.

As Arabs, we need to understand that Israel and the West are not our oppressors or enemies. We, Arabs, are our own worst enemies. We, Arabs, are our greatest oppressors. We, Arabs, have killed and oppressed a million times more of our people than the West and Israel can ever do. It is not Israel that married off my mother when she was a child. It is my people who did. It is not the West or Israel that has been bombing Yemen for the past decade and killed 400,000. It is us, Arabs, who did it. It is not the Israel that implanted Islamic extremism in the East and the West. It is our mosques, it is the books we worship, it is the Imams we follow, it is what we learn and what we teach. It is not the West that forces us to treat women like commodities. It is our people. And most of all, it is not the West or Israel that doesn’t value Arab lives. It is us, Arabs, who do not value human life. If we do not admit to ourselves that WE are the problem, that WE are refusing to progress, and that WE need to change – then change will never happen, blood will keep flowing, and we will never know peace. How do we expect the world and the International Community to respect us, when we don’t respect ourselves?

Everything is wrong with the system we operate here in Nigeria: This is what Speed Darlington says in this video: 1) Nobody from your village or your uncle is after your success. 2) Lack of opportunity is your problem, and your government has refused to create jobs for young people. 3) There aren’t enough jobs, and the available ones are reserved for the elites and their children. 4) Every job in Nigeria requires a degree certificate. You need a degree to become a bank teller in Nigerian banks or even a bike delivery rider for companies like FedEx. What happens to those who weren’t privileged to attend school? 5) In other developed countries, you don’t need a degree to work at Amazon, FedEx, etc. Your SSCE is enough to get something doing that pays more than what doctors are paid in Nigeria. 6) Nigerian youths need to wake up and reject APC; their future and that of their unborn children is at risk.

This wasn't "the white man". This wasn't racism. This wasn't the system. This was black people harming black people. We have a serious problem. The same energy we would have if it was a group of white people doing this to a black mom and her child is the same energy we need to have now. Those children need to be held accountable and parents need to be doing a MUCH better job. This is completely unacceptable. We need to be more accountable and make better decisions. Our standard is FAR TOO LOW.

The antisemitism that was festering under the surface for decades, has exploded. And for those of us who stand against it, we are not the popular kids. The so called “cool kids” are wearing a keffiyeh, calling for an intifada and demanding a Palestine between the river and the sea even if they can’t tell you which river or which sea. Keffiyeh Karens. That’s the mainstream now. Standing up against jihadism is now the counter-culture. Standing up for western democratic values against terror and extremism: that is now the counter-culture. Using facts and reason and knowing history: that is now the counter-culture. People! WE are the counterculture. And we are doing it. The Jewish people have found our voice because standing up for what we believe in, even when it’s not popular, is part of who we are. Our tiny people haven’t survived for millennia and outlived every empire that tried to destroy us by always being the cool kids. In fact, we almost never are. We know when it’s time to swim against the tide because we know this playbook. We have been here before. And our message to the world is as follows: the hatred that targets is targeting you too. I have a question for you, keffiyeh Karen from campus: where would you prefer to be a woman? in Iran? In Afghanistan? or in Israel? We cannot take the freedoms that we enjoy here in the US in Israel and in the west for granted, and right now even saying just that is swimming against the tide – it is being the counterculture. This is not a war of Israel’s choosing but we cannot avoid it either. They might call us the chosen people: in fact we are the people with no choice.
