The way the catcher is positioned to throw, that throw is going towards the 3rd base fence. The most telling part though? No one checks on that batter and catcher gets a high five right after from her coach. The batter ended up with a concussion. This is completely unacceptable and has no place in this sport.

It fell while we were in the building?” “When you guys were out of the building, 2 was already gone” “Really??” This just shows the raw emotion and magnitude of what just occurred. Adrenaline was driving them forward for the previous 2 hours. It wasn’t until they were back at the Duane Street Firehouse that they were able to process what actually took place.

This play caused some scorekeeper confusion. The batter is up with two outs and two strikes. Runner on third base. The batter swings and misses, strike three but the ball gets by the catcher. Before the catcher can throw down to first base to try and get the batter out, he tags the runner out from third who is trying to steal home. Inning over. But, who leads off next inning for the team batting? The next batter in the lineup or does the current batter come back up because he was never recorded as an out or safe? The same batter came back up to bat next inning and the umpire and coach from the opposing team didn’t say anything. Did they get it right?

This man works at a restaurant where most of the meats come prepackaged and precooked. On this day he has someone keep sending their chicken wings back to the kitchen claiming that they were still raw. What makes this remarkable is that all of their chicken wings are all pre-cooked and refried to order. The chances that he served a raw wing is slim to none. Sending the wings back once could be a fluke, it can happen, twice is pushing it. I think there is an ulterior motive for them to send it back now. Maybe it’s either to complain just to complain or hopes they are getting it for free, which one do you think it is?

He filmed himself farting directly on the raw chicken in the cooler… then kept prepping it for customers. When they called him out, his only defense was “anything to go viral.” No shame. No standards. Just clout over people’s food. This is the kind of mess that makes you side-eye every fast food kitchen.

This umpire gave this kid and his team two warnings for throwing the bat at the catcher. He told them if it happened again they were going to get ejected from the game. Well….it happened again. The batter hit the ball back to the pitcher and the pitcher overthrew first base. But, the umpire called a dead ball and called the batter out and ejected him from the game. The coach came out to argue and said the batter didn’t throw the bat, that it was a regular follow through on the back swing. He told the umpire they had it on film. The umpire said he had it on film too. Then the third base coach came down to argue and the umpire told the coach he was wrong and that he had it on video. You can hear the parents screaming at him. Some people said that was a terrible call and he let go legally on the follow through. You can also hear them tell the umpire that he had it out for that kid. 🤯 But a lot of people sided with the ump and said he handled it well and with that many warnings that it was a fantastic call. 💯 The umpire gave the same kid two prior warnings. On Day 1, it appears raw meat is just stuffed into the back of an extremely dirty SUV without any refrigeration at all. Day 2, raw meat is literally on the floor of a delivery truck, hanging out of the back... hard to believe it's real. This supermarket manager was walking back inside the store when he noticed that a customers car was on fire. He immediately ran inside and grabbed a fire extinguisher. He proceeded to smash the window of the car to put out the fire. Just as he was doing this, the owner came out and was freaking out to see that, only to remember that she had a lit scented candle in the car to help with unwanted smells. Was he justified to break her window to do this, shouldn’t he have just waited for the fire department, because now is it possible he’s liable for her damages that he caused?

Tempura is a perfect example of Bourdain saying Japanese food is “perfection and precision” with “few components.” Fried battered food is found everywhere in the world. But only Japan gets Michelin stars for it (tempura omasake spots). Portuguese brought the batter-and-fry technique to Japan in 16th century (story is “tempura” comes from Latin word “tempora”, which describes fasting periods when missionaries avoided meat and ate fried fish/veggies). Japanese chefs took the components and turned them into an art form. Spend decades just sourcing best ingredients, mastering oil heat, batter mixes and cooking times. Frying something so it is cooked well and crispy (but also light and not greasy) is hard AF. Especially if you’re serving 15-20 small fried dishes. Best tempura chefs know a dish is right from hearing a “snapping” sound in the oil. Just did a quick Google search and there are 20+ Michelin-starred restaurants that specialize in tempura (vid below is Tempura Kondo in Tokyo). Couldn’t find any other Michelin restaurant anywhere else in the world that does a menu of exclusively fried food. This is a long way of saying tempura shrimp heads are my favourite tempura.

Factory is busy but we are not making any money. Raw material prices have eaten up all the profits. Right now, it feels like we’re just working for nothing. If this continues, we’ll start paying out of pocket. On one side, it’s good to see the factory full and running. On the other, we know this is just servicing work - it’s not contributing to real growth. Hopefully things streamline in the next few months.

Man - this is almost exactly the set up that I offered to McDonald's consultants when talking about an automated kitchen. However, I had the ingredients dropping onto the bun, not a basket. Con: this is the slowest robot I have ever seen. A human would have made 8 sandwiches by the time this made one. Interesting Note: A few years ago, MCD tested an automated kitchen in Bolingbrook. They they had it under lock and key. You could not go into that kitchen unless you were one of the few & chosen (and probably an NDA). I don’t have pics bc all pics were prohibited. All I know is that it just didn’t work out.

Those are fly eggs Flys can show up in as little as minutes from setting chicken out to lay their eggs. When it’s warm they can hatch in just 8 hours and then you have larva in your chicken Some flys can lay 300+ eggs at a time This is cooked and they still got to it
