I lived in Venice back in the late 1960s and 1970s. It sucks now by comparison. Back then I rented a house on Breeze Avenue and Pacific for $130 a month. I also had an apartment at 32 Breeze for under $100. In those days, Venice still had some old beatniks around and an atmosphere of culture mixed with the decadence. Bohemian. It was sort of like West Village (NYC) at the beach.
