He was diagnosed shortly after his mother found out she was pregnant with their second child. This family drives daily from rural Nevada to Reno for outpatient chemotherapy treatments, infusions, and steroids. With a leukemia diagnosis, most treatment plans are up to three years long. He is currently finishing up his second year of treatment and is in maintenance. Although his journey is long and unpredictable at times, Lucas and his family remain positive and smiling through it all. We are so thankful to have had Lucas at practice today, and are proud to be backing a cause that supports him! #BattleBorn | #Launch

Insurance denied the transplant three times: “not medically necessary,” “experimental.” Third denial Thursday. Kid dead by Sunday. Now the same company is being asked if there’s a burial benefit for the parents who just buried their child. They were thorough when it came to saying no. They’re still saying no on the other end. This isn’t a glitch. It’s the system working exactly as designed.
