During his visit to USA last year, when Thalaivar K.Annamalai visited ‘Shri VenkataKrishna Kshetra’ Temple in Arizona, unlike others he didn’t do archana for his own family members. Instead, he did archana for Modi Ji and Amit Shah Ji. I was there with him, I was expecting him to mention his family members’ name and nakshatira for archana. Myself and other people present there were astonished to see the respect he has for Modi Ji and Amit Shah Ji. Also do remember, when he got the very first opportunity as Vice President of TN BJP to be present on the stage along with Modi Ji back in 2021 for the very first time, Thalaivar chose to hit the roads to clear the traffic as a typical police officer and ensured Modi Ji’s visit then was a smoother one. There is NO WAY Thalaivar would’ve avoided receiving Modi Ji when his name is included!!!

At a farewell lunch in Delhi when I was about to leave for London on my posting as India’s Deputy High Commissioner to the UK in 1999, PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji who was then a private citizen and a Pracharak had promised to visit me in London. That visit couldn’t materialise, but I had the privilege of hosting him during my posting in India at UN, Geneva when he visited Geneva in August 2003 as the Chief Minister of Gujarat to bring back the urn containing the ashes of the freedom fighter and a proud son of India Sh Shyamji Krishna Varma Ji to the motherland. Such was the farsight and focus of PM Modi Ji from the time he was the CM that he not only knew about the ashes but was also determined to fulfil the wish of the great freedom fighter that his and his wife’s and his ashes should be taken to India when it becomes independent. Modi ji was visiting Mumbai for an event at the, where a lot of people from the film fraternity had gathered. Everyone was eager to meet him and click pictures. I was there too — but not as myself. I was in full look of the great scientist Nambi Narayan ji, whom I was portraying as the lead role. With a big beard and full makeup, I genuinely doubted whether Modi ji would even recognize me. To my absolute surprise, the moment he saw me, he said, “Madhavan ji, you look like Nambi Narayan. Has the shooting of the film started?” I was stunned. Here was the Prime Minister of India, burdened with the responsibilities of the nation and the world, yet he not only recognized me instantly but also remembered exactly what I was working on, despite my drastically different appearance. That day, for the very first time, I took a selfie with him. Coincidentally, both of us had similar beards at the time. It remains one of my most cherished memories—because it showed me that Narendra Modi ji is not just a leader of vision, but a human being who notices, remembers, and values people in the most personal way. So there I shared an insight made by my father regarding 2014 election and Narendra Modi ji. That was for the first time in the history of Lok Sabha elections that a new face was declared as the prime ministerial candidate. Otherwise if you see even within Congress also, first there is the election, there is always an assumption and specially if the election is being led by a Prime Minister of the previous government, there is always an assumption that that person is going to be the next Prime Minister. And also this is unprecedented that the first term MP, Narendra Modi Ji has been in politics and made his mark as Gujarat Chief Minister and created that aura around him. But 2014 was his first Lok Sabha election. So this is perhaps unprecedented in the history of India that a first term MP is entering the parliament house as the prime minister. So this is quite unique...So my father told Narendra Modi ji when he came to see him after the elections that this mandate is not just for your party but this is a mandate for you also, so you have a far greater responsibility."
