Don’t know why we still engage these people. At this point I just feel like we didn’t teach them racism, it’s not our responsibility to unteach them. And maybe I’m just a bit of a cynic but I fully believe they are aware and do this on purpose to derail, enrage, and discredit.

"Cruel optimism" Yes! Hadn't heard it phrased that way but I immediately could think of so many examples.

I have multiple stories on being denied opportunities by people with quantifiable far less skill than me. A recruiter looked at my resume and told me it wasnt real. I worked hella hard at my last job and out of retaliation and spite, I was replaced by a less skilled person.

To ole boy: because thats exactly what he is - a BOY. What makes you think you can lead Black men? To be an effective leader you have to be able to connect at a human level - what makes you think you can lead Black men?
