Can't even get one these to line up right...

All that technology just to drop a bomb on a poor middle eastern family

And only 50 years after this

Not so sure it’s a success if you factor in costs. Unless you are one of the three, or own their stocks. Piss poor use of capital. One of the worst in the history of the military that we know about.

Jump Jet did that in the 90's

The Harrier Jump Jet from Hawker Siddeley and BAE would like a word

Engine Yak-141

Harrier be like

Quartet actually. You forgot Yakovlev-141 and its Tumansky R-79V-300 that invented tech used in F-35B

Yes very powerful. It burns money faster than anything previously.

Russian did this decades ago thru YAK series of VTOL . This design even though admirable but comes from purchase of YAK design burea deaign by LM . Thank you for your attention

We did this in the 60’s!

Rolls Royce literally developed the engine for Harrier

they were a key player and still are

does this matter in an age of drone swarms? beautiful nonetheless

They didn’t pull it off - F-35 is a lemon - and lemons fall - 14 at least in non-combat conditions. Kelly Johnson would have never released that piece o’ crap…

If they paved the runway with $100’s there aren’t enough A-10’s in the world to burn money that quickly.

This is the B variant of F35, which has seen most number of crashes in F35s. The US Navy has rejected this, that's why they are still using F18 hornets as their workhorse from Aircraft carriers. Yes it looks cool, but the question is about functionality

Trinity of Genocide is more accurate

lol only fools think this is advance

Ancient tech at this point.

And all that money just to get shot down by heat sensors... america is a joke

I like how I'm seeing posts upping f35-b after that shit crashed a day ago

Lockheed stole the invention

VTOL fixed wing aircraft have been around since the 50s. Other than the F35 variant they've mostly been abandoned because it's a really expensive, high maintenance solution to a really niche problem. One of a long list of things we did because we could, not because we needed to.

The Harrier 'jump jet' was invented 60 years ago. Here:

The range rover of military aircraft

British harrier jump jets were doing that in the 1970's

You’re forgetting someone

the 35 is good and all but the 22-Raptor has my heart🩷

This engineering feat has been done for centuries by men peeing in the AM.

What advantage does this tech offer F35c over ordinary fighter jets?

Engineering so insane it actually flies Absolute masterpiece 🔥

It only takes a rotor and a nozzle that is rotated by a servo motor bro why glaze it up so much shit is easy. Smh..
