#OnThisDay in 1993 Ronald Koeman infamously pulled down David Platt in Rotterdam "Referee, referee...should be sent off, should be sent off as well” "What sort of thing is happening here" Graham Taylor's reaction & words say it all

Hits me like a train to this day. Ruined the following summer for me as well.

I remember Lawrie McMenemy finally getting animated after a year of qualification woe “We didn’t even git a fockin penallteeee??!!”

The look on Koemans face. He can't believe he got away with that

Bastard!!!

You can read about it in my book. Taylor was hugely unfortunate with both injuries and decisions against him

Not one to hold a grudge, but I enjoyed this in 2024

If i was English id never get over that, absolutely dreadful refereeing

It’s been a hard 33 years

The Impossible Job (Channel 4) in full on YouTube. Great documentary

Did he not like that?

You know we've been cheated don't you!

The 4th official .. Dr. Markus Merk 🇩🇪 a dentist by trade 🤣getting an earful ..he went on to become World ref of the year .. 🤦🏻‍♂️

It still makes me feel cross when I see it now!

He should off been sent off and lf this was now he would have

Hahaha lovely stuff. Wilkins’ rant afterwards was glorious too.

To be fair he was the last man, rules state he should be sent off. No wonder Taylor was so annoyed

I will say what I said at the time. Did he really need to go down. Pulled down is a bit strong touched down

He favoured an odd syntax

David Platt the ex Manchester City coach 😂🤪
