#OnThisDay, Jan. 11, 1992. Host Rob Morrow/Musical guest Nirvana. Only a few months after Smells Like Teen Spirit fully drug us kicking and screaming into the 90s, Nirvana played on SNL for the first time. It would begin a long legacy between the show and Dave Grohl.

Lorne always wanted The Beatles to appear. This is as close as it got, gloriously so.

I love that it was performed live, no lip synching, no choreography, no special effects, just raw, in your face, fuck you if you can't handle it rock and roll. 🤘😎🎸

I love that he seems to forget to turn the chorus pedal on for the verse riff both times and doesn’t seem fazed at all.

Did not appreciate the talent of Nirvana when they first came out. But now there Legends. Happy Birthday Dave Grohl.
