Oops! Aerial refueling doesn't always go the way it's designed.

Uh guys, how tf is there not an emergency shut off valve. That fuel spray just created a generation of Bosnian birth defect mutants.

Let me tell you that it can go a lot fucking worse when the hose disconnects from the tanker while still hooked up to the receiving aircraft. The hose beats the aircraft to death and landing on a carrier is tricky, because that hose is going to be a flightdeck threat.

The dreaded "sine wave". Hard hit, push slack into it, wave goes up hose, wave goes down hose, wham!!!

Tanking from a basket is tough in the Tomcat. Especially from the metal KC-135 basket at night, while in the clouds, with three other F-14s behind you all sucking on fumes! There’s lots of pressure while just taking a couple of thousand pounds in order to let everyone cycle through before someone flamed-out. Low state always gets gas first, until everyone finally gets what they need. I don’t miss those nights!

No shut off switch? So the guy running the tanker just laying they watching fuel spray all over? And the F14 just flys like like nothing going on and flys into the fuel.

No way to shut gas flow off?

Did the Tomcat get to keep the basket 😜

I thought it would go into the intake for a sec...😎

I think coupling created slack in hose pipe that had to be reeled back by refuelling pod that it perhaps failed to do so. The sine wave was introduced in hose which whipped & snapped the bucket.

Do your epps carry spare underwear? Guessing that pilot did!

Took a while to cut the hose loose, or is that normal?

The brief ignition on the basket 😳 Pants were for sure shat.

You'd think a critical operation like this would demand that the fuel hose was inspected and replaced on a regular interval for safety reasons.

Aww, man! You pissed all over my jet, man!

Mind the whip

Serious question? What spills is fuel, right? That will not hurt anyone who walks around and causes them to do so, or is it in a safe test area?

Well, theres yer problem right there.

I am just wondering why there is not a fuel cutoff

Quick wash, how lucky

... ai video. the hose gets longer and SOMEBODY IS REFUSING TO SHUT THAY DAMN VALVE OFF additionally, the *elongated* hose goes under the refueling aircraft but then later appears above and behind it...

So THATS why USA is 40 trillion in debt and the climate is melting.

Go ahead and shop #2.

It's like a drogue hose going through puberty.

There's baptism by fire. And there's this - baptism by fear. Seeing a Tomcat on your 6 can do that. Even tankers.

The squadron got to take home a new prize for their wall.

See

Uhh… I’m pretty sure that’s not supposed to happen 😂

Sine wave. Not good.

I wonder if the fuel can be injected like that to keep the engine going???

Looks like Iranian f-14?

Scary!!!

Oh, there're gonna be two crew chiefs with plenty to say tonight. 🤣

You just cant get away from DEI, even in the air. Ahhh the emergency shut off switch was just too far away to reach I guess
