Unauthorized Immigrant population in the US in 2017 under Donald Trump: 10.5 million. Unauthorized Immigrant population in the US in 2021 under Joe Biden: 10.5 million. 4.6% of... US workers in 2021 were unauthorized immigrants. Everyone loves to say that the US has "open borders" under Biden. Yet when I ask people what is different at the border now than what we've seen at the border under the previous 5 presidents, people usually can only name one thing: "More people are being encountered at the borders than before." Yes to some degree we have open borders in that people are allowed to seek asylum here, under the law. This law has not really been different under previous administrations. Yes, more people are trying to come into America now, but in reality, is anything really "more open" other than the fact that the arguably inhumane 'Remain in Mexico' policy was terminated? Those who want to deport 4.6% of the US workforce should take an economics class and see what would happen to the US economy if we removed a workforce of that size. The solution is massive amounts of additional border security agents and technology (including better fencing in certain places) to coincide with the amount of additional people crossing the border.show more

It's all talk. There is no way you can deport 5% of the US workforce. The cost to do that would be 500 times the current national debt and it would require more lawyers than we have citizens.

Unauthorized immigrant population as of 2022 was 11.39 million in the U.S. Add a year of Biden’s open border policies. That’s about 2.5 million people as of August 2023, that totals: 14 million and we are still having migrants cross by the thousands! Don’t pick and choose your numbers. What’s changed is GOP governors shipping migrants to blue cities to score political wins. This was starting under Trump, now it’s a vital part of their political strategy.
