this is pretty nuanced open-source is polar opposite of rent-seeking/private property rights but also supports individualism and collectivism but..they could also develop partisan opinions

I don't think people understand how critical unbiased models are to the survival of civilization.

Open source is a product of liberalism. The literal point is freedom to distribute and modify. This is batshit nonsense.

Very well said, unity matters at this stage!

Agreed, the technology itself isn't partisan. But the philosophy behind open source is another matter. Decentralization, individual freedom, open competition, and letting the best ideas win rather than having centralized authorities decide? Those are deeply libertarian, often right-leaning principles.

I run SI (closed claude) with open source software on my M4 GPU/CPU such as openwhispr etc. as part of video making ... use of best worlds, for now... agree on that open source SI needs to exist and it will, sometimes ahead, mostly behind, but this a great feature!

local AI is good for everyone no matter what side of the political spectrum you're on because it gives you the ability to make your own choices

Banning local AI is no different than banning people from owning books. Its about political control.

I had never thought of any software as R or D, until your video where you ended `OpenSource AI is giving power into the hands of everyone` [vs centralizing power]. 🤔 R = giving power to everyone; D = centralizing power. 😂😂😂 Maybe it OSS is inherently political. 😂

It belongs to everyone, to train it, they stole every peace of data which was reachable to them.

Harper come on now. They chat harnesses are clearly being rigged and the labs reported that already.

Have you ever considered that someone put the two autistic retards in charge of Claude and ChatGPT because they are easy to manipulate and will drink their own Kool-Aid? Then when they fail to produce a profitable product and their companies go bankrupt because they overextended foolishly, Apple, Google, and xAI will buy them for pennies after the AI/LLM race has hit the developmental ceiling? Something is off about two autistic anti-social freaks being lent money so recklessly. They are too fucking mentally handicapped to tie their shoes who the fuck would lend them money? Unless they were put in a state of fight/flight forfeiting higher level thinking by hearing the world as we know will end and no one will be working in five years........IDK sounds a lot like a pre-planned op to force competitive development as fast as possible without personal risk to the people pushing those two tards....

The ability to inspect, challenge, and build shouldn’t require a party card. Open models put more eyes on both the breakthroughs and the blind spots. 🔍

I am actually pushing for One AI - an open-source/weight AI that is owned by humanity. #OneAI

And not even just personal use but the same for businesses/enterprises so they’re not letting frontier models train on all of their data.

When models aren't forced into faggotry aka liberalism, they come off 'conservative' wherein that is just the natural state.

Tom Refactored's profile picture

Akchually... you can make it political (not saying that you should). not everyone has access to an american-centered OSS ecosystem (not saying it is political). open weights =/= open source (you own the product not the true source - not saying it isn't awesome)

Open source is safer, because what you can see is what you get. The code is transparent. The weights can be adjusted. But the prevailing FUD is that foreign-origin LLM models can somehow be seeded with mischief or espionage and thereby pose a national security risk.

Love this! AI is and is going to be embedded in our daily lives, we can't escape it. I'm on the train of embrace it now, learn it and use it. I love AI and it's going to help society out in so many ways. Open source, is just another way for people to use it. No need to have only the big companies controlling it.
