Karen Hao just revealed that laid-off workers are being hired to train AI on the exact job they were fired from. MIT-trained journalist Karen Hao interviewed over 300 people for her book Empire of AI, including 90+ current and former OpenAI insiders. She got the firing story scene by scene from people in the room. Ilya Sutskever was OpenAI's chief scientist and co-founder. He cared about two things: building AGI, and building it safely.
