opencode making a pong game in vite+react using (4bit) qwen/qwen3-235b-a22b-2507 locally, served by lmstudio. It used like 130GB of RAM, 0 issues with tool calls. This is completely usable locally now. Whether it's at claude level or not, idk yet, but I've no doubt we'll be there very soon...

Max RAM usage ~110GB. Voice-to-voice latency is ~950ms. There are a couple of relatively easy ways to carve another ~100ms off that number. But it's not a bad start!

I have found myself using MiniMax more and more recently, it's very fast locally and works great with stuff that requires some level of privacy. Using about 6m tokens a day locally. It's also going way up now. This model is surprisingly capable in many unexpected places.

Let's be honest Claude Code was not working good with local LLMs. So, I Tried using OpenCode with LM Studio using Qwen 3.5 9B model on my RTX 5080 GPU. It's very usable and much faster than Claude Code. I'm actually planning to use this setup to build an entire vibe coded SaaS

Thanks for the mention TBPN! We're working on making this run at >40 tok/sec on 2 Mac Studios (the full, unquantized Kimi K2.5). I'm already running Kimi K2.5 myself locally with Claude Code and it's impressive - very close to Opus level.

I did it! It works! Using GLM-4.7-4bit with mlx_lm.server and opencode to fix real code locally! 🔥 Here single M3 Ultra 512GB, nex step phase will be 2 using Tensor Parallelism and then apply same changes to exo. Prefill is slow on a single machine, but generation is good.

I run Claude Code with Qwen3 Coder Flash locally on my MacBook Air. It works offline, zero cloud, zero internet. No limit with all tokens on the house. Not great, not terrible- adequate performance for an on device AI agent chewing through code on a 1.24 kg laptop.

They are not there, but if you have a beefy mac, Qwen3-Coder-Next has some applications due to its speed and decent tool calling capabilities. This video is in real time. (Also plenty of local models for STT etc.). They are not to be completely dismissed!
