With all the ledger concerns lately maybe it kinda makes the case for electronics having transparent housings Makes it significantly harder to hide implements if the users can see the bare tech without opening things. No?

Some wallets do implement transparent cases. I think it's a good idea as it makes the implementation of an implant harder, and even if they manage to make the hardware difficult to recognize, they'll still need an antenna.

Bought my nano x directly from ledger in dec 2025 im fine? You think i need to open it to check?

Mark Karpelès's profile picture
Mark Karpelès18 days ago

You should be fine. If you're worried you can always open it, but if you cause any damage Ledger won't cover it:

Just opened and is all fine exactly like in this video, only numbers are different on the green line you have 21 46, i have 22 10... idk what this means..

Paradoxically, what was actually an advantage - that the Ledger could be easily taken apart (to fix problems with the battery, for example) - is now proving to be a fatal flaw. In my opinion, it would be better to make it completely non-disassemblable. And they should also implement some hidden security markers in the body so that the product’s authenticity can be verified.

Easy disassembly also makes it easy to check your device on arrival, instead of having to trust something you can't look at.

After everything that’s happened, I obviously have no choice but to agree 😀 I have a few Ledger Nano devices myself, but they’re all more than three years old. I bought them in the Czech Republic (I’m not sure through which distributors), so hopefully these ones are still OK. In any case, great job on all of this—keep up the excellent work!

Something Coldcard did right is to ship device in plastic tamper proof bag, which obviously Ledger failed to do.

Are there any reports about the nano s plus being targeted the same way? Or is it only the nano x?

How to see if the screen has not been changed with a compromise that gives information remotely. When we untie the screen, we don't even know if an official screen ledger or a compromise? @MagicalTux

The implant technology today relies on the signal coming from the test pads. While they could try to build something smaller and tap the signal directly on the screen level, it hasn't come to that just yet, and they'd still need to connect it to an antenna.

Thank you very much. I followed your steps and didn't find any spying devices. I feel reassured knowing my cold wallet matches the one in your video. I am truly grateful.

Since 2019, Ledger has released two types of Nano X with circuit board having two battery pin contacts and three contacts which vary around shipped units. Not a tampering indication, but they never documented this nuance. Just wanted to inform and never figured out why.

Ledger users are paranoid Problems for Bitcoin investors: 1 Hackers (Lazarus Group) 2 Greedy Exchanges (FTX) 3 Price Manipulators (Black****) 4 Stupidity/Gullibility 5 Kidnappers (Case in France) 6 Quantum Computers 7 Bad News on Economy 8 Plague

That partly explains the Nano X; I tried to open the Nano S but haven't managed to do so yet without causing visible damage.
