this is the worst local ai will ever be. it only gets better from here. if you are not expanding your mind with these small models you are missing what's happening right now 99 percent tool call success rate. when steered well with the right skills and a framework like hermes agent the node becomes a cognition layer. not a chatbot. not a toy. an extension of how you think. i was cranking this node at 35 to 50 tok/s all day on personal experiments and now after all the work is done qwen 3.5 9B is iterating on its own code. the game it created. fixing its own bugs autonomously. and the part you should probably not miss is that all of this is happening on a RTX 3060. not an H100. not an A100. the card most of you have sitting in a drawer right now. if you just open that drawer and put that intelligence to work every tensor core on that card should be running for you. your work. your experiments. your thinking. you all have it but because nobody told you what this hardware can actually do in 2026 you never tried. the day it unlocks is the day you test your workload, understand the tradeoffs, debug the loops, and then decide if you need to scale the hardware. there is no point buying 3 mac studios when things done well you can squeeze a similar level of intelligence from 9B compared to 70B. but only when you create the right environment for your model through the right harness. and let me tell you i have tried claude code as a local harness. i have tried opencode. i have tried various others. somehow i landed on hermes agent and never left. there is something magical going on at Nous Research. the tool call parsers, the skills system, the way it handles small models natively. nothing else comes close for local inference. own your cognition. your AI. your agent. your prompts. your experiments. why give them away for free. those are who you are and they don't belong on someone else's servers being monitored. just give it a shot with your existing hardware. you run into a problem the community will help you. and if you are migrating from openclaw to hermes i will personally help you make the switch.

The term "continual learning" has become overloaded if you see it as an ML problem. One classic thread is about memorization: regularization-based continual learning methods, such as EWC, MAS, and SI, estimate which parameters mattered for previous tasks and resist changing them too much. One modern thread is about adaptation: test-time training and inference-time learning methods, such as TTT, adapt part of the model on the incoming test stream before making predictions. These are sometimes discussed as separate threads. But in modern scalable architectures, I think they are better seen as complementary constraints: a model that learns quickly at test time also benefits from a mechanism for deciding what not to forget. In our #ECCV2026 paper, we study this in large-scale 4D reconstruction: how to build fast spatial memory that can adapt over long observation streams while reducing collapse and forgetting. Instead of using fully plastic test-time updates, we stabilize fast-weight adaptation with an elastic prior that balances adaptation and memory. Key ideas: - Elastic Test-Time Training: Fisher-weighted consolidation for fast-weight updates - EMA anchor weights that provide a moving reference for stability - Chunk-by-chunk inference for long 3D/4D observation streams We show that this scales across large 3D/4D pretraining settings, including both LRM-style and LVSM-style models, and improves reconstruction across benchmarks including Stereo4D, NVIDIA, and DL3DV-140. There’s been some confusion/comments about my use of the phrase “pull the goalie” … so I’ll explain what it means, why I use it and why I think it’s the right starting point to use for defining urban Family Friendly housing Like from this clip from Marley and Me, it has simply meant a couple having sex, while being open to having kids. The word " trying" can feel really strange at first ... so it's just the shift from preventing a pregnancy to being willing for one to happen. And there’s a very big difference between getting pregnant and deciding to be willing to get pregnant. That difference is *key* when it comes both to designing housing and to making a City more family friendly. I know plenty of couples who have gotten pregnant immediately, like on the honeymoon. And for others it has taken years of ACTUAL trying (tracking cycles, having sex at specific times of day, hormones, IVF) ... and for some of our friends despite all efforts it just has not happened. Only God knows when or if a couple will have a baby. Babies truly are a miracle. (On a related note, Marley and Me is a beautiful movie in telling the story of wanting a family and losing a baby. My wife and I have lost children, so we know a *bit* of what the heartbreak of miscarriage is like) But the shift for a couple to become WILLING to have a baby is one of the core reasons people struggle to have kids in cities. If someone looks around their apartment and thinks, “There is no way we could raise a baby here,” then they’re less likely to stop using birth control. Your home has to feel like it could accommodate a baby. A "Baby Maybe" home: a second small bedroom or a tiny home office, that could have be a nursery in a pinch. It enables the small, almost subconscious, mental threshold where you say, “You know what … we’d be fine if this happened.” That’s the moment. And for each couple, there will be 1000 other things that go into the equation: Can we afford for 1 of us to stay home, or full-time childcare? Do we see other kids around us? Is it safe enough for kids? Are there parks nearby? Do we need to be closer to family and cousins? All will be different for each family, but they ALL require that their current home is sufficient to be able to have a kid Otherwise, as soon as a couple finds out they are pregnant ... they call their parents, friends and family and tell them the good news ... and then immediately look on Zillow to move right away so they aren't giving birth AND moving the same time. It's kind of a bummer in an otherwise wonderful magical moment. We've seen many many couples move out of the City at that exact period. "Well, since we are moving anyway, we might as well go to where we think we will live long term." But it doesn't need to be that. Babies are small. At least for the first year, if you have a place to put them you're probably better off just staying in your current place and then figuring things out later. Maybe you DO need to move to the suburbs or be closer to family or you want a house with a yard. But that decision doesn't need to be right away. TLDR: Family Friendly housing doesn’t begin at birth. It begins when a couple can imagine a child fitting into their current home ... whether that's a rowhome with tiny bedrooms or a 1BR+Den apartment.

Blue-Green Algae at Red Bud Isle☠️🐶 Austin, TX - Austin Watershed Protection staff have observed thick mats of blue-green algae, some of which may be toxic, notably near Red Bud Isle on Lady Bird Lake and at Walsh Boat Landing on Lake Austin. Samples were collected at all six monitoring sites on the lakes for testing. At this time of year, blue-green algae mats may be present in other parts of either lake and our creeks. Community members should be cautious and avoid contact with algae. They should keep dogs away from water with algae mats. The mats usually look like dark blobs floating on the surface and can be mixes of different kinds of algae. They may be mixed in with aquatic vegetation. As the weather continues to heat up, conditions for algae will become more favorable, and we expect to see more in our waterways. Assess Before You Enter Waterways If any of the following conditions are present, stay out of the water. They could indicate reduced water quality. •Algae along the shoreline •Stagnant, warm or murky water •Scum or surface film. In addition, do not enter the water if there has been rain in the past three days. After Entering the Water •Do not drink water directly from natural water bodies. •Avoid contact with algae. •Rinse skin, hair, and animal fur thoroughly after contact with water. •Do not allow pets to lick their fur before rinsing them off. If you or your pet experiences sudden, unexplained illness after swimming, contact your medical provider or veterinarian immediately. Residents are encouraged to report suspected human or animal illnesses related to algae using the City’s online reporting form. The mats of blue-green algae present at Red Bud Isle are similar in appearance to conditions in May and June in previous years. For the past five years, we have applied lanthanum-modified clay to manage sediment phosphorus in an effort to reduce the growth of algae as part of a $1.5 million pilot program. This year is a control year with no application so we can evaluate the effectiveness of the pilot program and whether it is beneficial to continue investing public funds at the previous level. Algae is not the only risk when spending time on Austin’s waterways. Natural water bodies can contain algae, bacteria, parasites, and other hazards. *Austin Watershed Protection

Open Letter to Union Home Minister Amit Shah Shri Amit Shah avare, First, let me congratulate you for finally speaking the truth by openly revealing the BJP's real opinion about Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. Your statement in Parliament (18-12-2024) didn’t surprise us; we already knew your party’s true mindset. But now, the entire country has seen your lack of respect for the architect of the Indian Constitution. Standing in the very Parliament that runs under his Constitution and calling his memory a "habit" shows your arrogance. Congratulations, Mr. Shah, for this shameless act! Do not attempt to mislead the nation by saying, "I have immense respect for Babasaheb, and my words were twisted." We are not gullible. Own up to your words and face the nation. For us, Ambedkar is not a "fashion" but an eternal inspiration. As long as we breathe, as long as the Sun and Moon shine on this Earth, Ambedkar's legacy will endure.
