Initial Hebrew media reports described him as Emirati citizen. 3- The co-pilot is Omani. He allegedly stabbed the pilot and attempted to dive and crash the plane with Israeli passengers, resulting in a fight between the 2 pilots. Smit eventually managed to unlock the cockpit door. 4- Passengers intervened and subdued the Omani co-pilot, while additional pilots aboard the flight took control of the plane and landed it safely at Tabuk Airport in Saudi Arabia. 5- The Israeli passengers received care from a Saudi crew after landing in Saudi Arabia. 6- The Emirati based Indian pilot, Smit Machchhar, was hospitalized after suffering stab wounds, but his condition has not been officially disclosed. Earlier today, the crew from Tower 18 responded to a motor vehicle accident on C-470. Two people were transported from the scene for medical care, but they weren’t the only passengers involved. Two dogs were also in the vehicle and, thankfully, they were not injured. The Tower 18 crew brought them back to the station where they’re currently being treated like VIPs (Very Important Pups) while we work to get them reunited with family.

The pilot can be heard telling a controller that he needed to go to the hospital once they reached the gate. Delta says the flight landed safely, the crew member disembarked and the flight was re-crewed before continuing to Boston. The nature of the illness was not disclosed.

The passenger vehemently declined despite being made to understand the reasons why the switch had to be made. He threatened twice to slap the hostess. As a result, the pilot called in airport security, including the Air Force, to remove the passenger. He (passenger) insisted on speaking with the NCAA Consumer Protection Officers on duty, and they were brought in to deescalate the situation. The passenger was advised per the threats made and why he had to be deplaned. The pilot insisted on not flying the passenger for safety reasons. Airport security and NCAA officials have led him back to the terminal. He has understood the ramifications of his actions and has calmed down. He will be allowed to board the evening flight later today. May I reiterate that the responsibility of deescalating potential altercation rests with both cabin crew and passenger, and it is not ideal to threaten or actually hit people aboard an aircraft. If you are not satisfied with the quality of service you have received, kindly report to the NCAA Consumer Protection Department via and a resolution will be reached. Threats of violence against cabin crew are not acceptable. Let us all ensure to keep our skies safe and allow other passengers to enjoy their flying experience.
